Avengers Endgame: Encore Coming To Disney+ As Russos Insist Doctor Doom Has "Zero Similarities" To Iron Man

It appears Avengers Endgame: Encore will eventually be added to Disney+. Meanwhile, filmmakers the Russo Brothers have confirmed that there's no link between Doctor Doom and Iron Man.

It appears Avengers Endgame: Encore will eventually head to Disney+, as the movie has shown up on the streaming platform today. No release date has been revealed, though we'd imagine it will debut—with the improved visuals and extra footage—before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters.

Disney's priority will be getting people to head to their local multiplexes for this re-release, especially as there's a very good chance that Encore will push Avengers: Endgame beyond Avatar at the worldwide box office.

With $2.799 billion, the 2019 blockbuster was the highest-grossing movie ever for a time. That changed when Avatar was re-released, pushing its total to a massive $2.923 billion. So, Avengers: Endgame only needs around $124 million to break the record. It's doable, especially with excitement for Avengers: Doomsday at an all-time high.

Filmmaker Joe Russo has said Avengers Endgame: Encore is "going to connect the story of the two movies. There’s a natural progression from Endgame into Doomsday, which is also inclusive of all the other stories that have been playing out."

"But I think it’s important to see Endgame again in theaters for two reasons," he continued. "One, you’re going to have a lot of fun, and two, I think it’s required viewing for following the story in Doomsday."

Talking of that movie, Empire Magazine recently caught up with the Russo Brothers, who have confirmed that there are "zero similarities" between Doctor Doom and Iron Man in Avengers: Doomsday

Despite speculation about Victor Von Doom being a Tony Stark Variant, it seems Marvel Studios is handling this like any other actor who has played two characters in the MCU: Downey's previous role won't be acknowledged, and Doom is a completely new character.

While many talented actors could have portrayed Doom, there's something to be said for getting Downey to play the MCU's biggest villain after starring as its greatest hero.

A new ScreenX promo and comic book variant cover for Avengers: Doomsday have also been revealed. Check them out below.

In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.

Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Mabel Cadena, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, India Rose Hemsworth, and Wesley Holloway all make their Avengers franchise debuts.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, as do X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, with Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.

Really unnessessary if true.

But in Secret Wars he will be looking like Tony Stark.

I like the new recent theory about Double Dooms, how they recently revealed a second Doom suit and THAT Doom is the real comic accurate Doom played by Cillian Murphy, and the RDJ Doom is a red herring for the film, maybe even a creation of the real Victor made specifically to [frick] with the Avengers by making his decoy Doom look like Tony.

They still haven't really given any reason to care about Doctor Doom. Yeah, he's lost a family, a lot of character have, but why should we be invested in his journey to try and destroy/reboot the multiverse as Battleworld only to not bring back his family but replace them with Sue Storm, Franklin and Valeria? Fant4stic had more development for Doctor Doom than this.

As usual because the writers are incompetent they just have other character praise a new character to try and convince the audience to like them. They have characters hyping him up in the trailer and it's clear he's got plot armor that means nothing is going to impact him, but that doesn't make it engaging or connect him with audiences, it makes him boring and draws focus to the lack of development he could have had. What's the point of having an antagonist that is impacted by nothing, it guarantees when he is defeated it will be bullshit.

Then you have the moronic decision to have him be an ally of the heroes for 75% of the film, so you have this goofy guy in a mask just kinda hanging around in the background and the film despite marketing itself as having Doctor Doom be evil is going to waste the audiences time with the characters not realizing that until the Sentinel Battle at the X-Men Mansion at the end of Act 2. Doctor Doom doing nothing but stand and give exposition with the other characters.

There's a cool story where Dooms mind is inside the physical Tony but I guess that's too much work for these hack writers

That’s some cool comic book-esque promo artwork!!.

Doomsday being somewhat of a sequel to EG makes sense especially if lines like “ when you mess with time , it tends to mess back” could play into the film especially if Steve going back to live a life with Peggy leads to an incursion that kills Doom’s family & scars him thus leading him to wanting revenge etc.

Also Joe might just mean there are zero similarities between Doom & Tony (besides being arrogant scientific geniuses who wear suits of armor) in terms of personally which certainly seems to be true since Tony is more quippy , Doom seems more somber amongst other things.

Anyway while I do think there are other actors who could have definitely played Doom if there truly is no connection between Tony and Victor then RDJ , Downey seems to be embracing it and is doing well by trying to be another character with the voice , accent & such.

I truly hope they cast him (aside from just someone who brings in the big bucks) for his acting prowess after he showed again in Oppenheimer that he’s more then Tony Stark & he accepted it as a challenge to play someone who is covered almost completely from head to toe with the exception of their eyes and whose face we never see!!.

@TheVisionary25 - the more you read the more it comes across like they’ve been doing generic director speak like “he’s the only person capable of playing this role” that people have misread due to MCU / Feige conditioning them that these are something more than movies

People are gonna be so mad when they realize the Russo’s have just doing normal movie director speak to sell this movie and it’s not about the in universe red thread connecting

Yeah I’m sure the nearly 10 yr old movie you tacked on some extra footage to is crucial viewing for your next movie and not a just a chance to double dip the cash grab

Can't wait to come to this site after Doomsday and watch all the naysayers suddenly forget their stance about how much they hated the Multiverse Saga but somehow "It worked and made sense in Doomsday" as if we don't have receipts. This site has so many clowns that you would think it's a circus.

"Doctor Doom Has "Zero Similarities" To Iron Man"

Other than being played by the same actor, both wearing armor, both being arrogant, and both seeking to "save" the world by having more control of it? Sure.

I never expected him to be Stark variant, but I do think they’ll acknowledge that he looks similar to Tony. You don’t let a gut-punch reveal like that go to waste.
