Tickets for Marvel Studios' Avengers Endgame: Encore have finally gone on sale, with the epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga set to return to theaters on September 25.
The 2019 blockbuster will play in IMAX and Infinity Vision. The latter is a new certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) theaters that "guarantees moviegoers an exceptional film presentation with big screens, bright images and outstanding sound."
While it's been reported that Avengers Endgame: Encore will feature additional scenes, it sounds a lot like we're just getting a new extended sneak peek at the end of the movie.
In a press release sent out by Disney, the studio writes, "The special Encore presentation of the record-breaking film includes an exclusive look at the highly anticipated December 18 release of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday.'"
It's also said that "An additional sneak peek at the film will also be available to audiences who see 'Avengers Endgame: Encore' on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens."
It certainly doesn't sound like newly shot scenes will be woven into Avengers: Endgame's narrative, but does it really matter?
At the very least, we're expecting a new trailer and perhaps some scenes from Avengers: Doomsday's opening act. Those will likely focus on what became of Steve Rogers after he travelled back in time for his happy ending with Peggy Carter. For now, we'll have to wait and see.
Inevitably, any new content will be leaked online next month, but the best way to watch any Avengers: Doomsday footage will surely be on the biggest screen possible (with some cool Iron Man-themed theater merch in hand, all of which you can see below), not as a blurry cell phone recording.
"Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie, it's an experience," we wrote in our 2019 review of the movie.
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie features an epic ensemble which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
If you don't want to wait until September, the theatrical cut of Avengers: Endgame is currently streaming on Disney+.
