AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Rumor Reveals [SPOILER]'s Return; Marvel Registers INFINITY VISION Trademark

A huge new Avengers: Secret Wars rumour is doing the rounds that points to Doctor Doom facing an unexpected opponent in the movie. And what's the deal with this "Infinity Vision" trademark?

With rumours swirling about a major Disney trailer being released next week, it's possible—albeit unlikely—that a new look at Avengers: Doomsday is right around the corner.

Looking beyond the upcoming blockbuster, we only have one MCU movie to look forward to in 2027: the Multiverse Saga finale, Avengers: Secret Wars. That movie is shrouded in secrecy and will likely remain so until after Doomsday's release this December. However, when cameras begin rolling later this month, there's always a chance we'll get some leaks from set.

In the meantime, insider @MyTimeToShineH has dropped a bombshell about one particularly huge moment in Avengers: Secret Wars. We'd advise taking this with a pinch of salt for now, but if true, this will be quite a sight to behold.

According to the leaker, Robert Downey Jr. will suit up as Iron Man to fight himself as Doctor Doom in the movie.

Despite Tony Stark's heroic sacrifice at the end of Avengers: Endgame, it would be baffling for the Oscar-winner not to play an Iron Man Variant at some point (especially as he and Victor Von Doom aren't expected to be linked in any way). We'll see if this pans out, but what a clash this will be if it happens.

In other MCU news, Caleb Williams has come across a new trademark filing by Marvel Studios for "Infinity Vision," which was filed under the 41 motion picture classification on 3/31/26. It may mean a lot or very little, but it's hard not to be reminded of What If...?'s Infinity Ultron when seeing that name.

During a recent interview with The Direct, VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas was asked whether the android's story will continue in a second season, and said, "I think that's up to the Marvel and Disney Gods. It doesn't necessarily have to [stand on its own]. There is a group of characters in situations that are certainly on their own island, if you will. Trying to figure out how to say this."

"You could very much see these characters again, if you want," he continued before being asked whether the Disney+ series sets the stage for the next Avengers movies. "That I can't comment on at all," Matalas replied.

The confirmed cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Sadie Sink.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness's Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.
