On Wednesday, Comic Book Resources published Diamond Comics Distributors' top 500 comic books and trades for 2011, with Marvel Comics taking the top spot in dollar and unit share, netting 37.29 percent and 40.93 percent, respectively.

But neither the best selling comic nor the best selling trade came from Marvel. Those honors went to Justice League #1 from DC Comics, the No. 1 selling comic, and The Walking Dead Vol. 01: Days Gone By from Image Comics, the No. 1 selling trade.

DC Comics garnered nine of the top 10 spots out of all 500 bestselling comics and seven of the top 10 most grossing.

Confused about the difference between sales and dollars? Then take a look at the prices. A cheaper book that sells well might bring in less money than a more expensive book that sells just a bit more poorly.

CBR offered examples, including Fantastic Four #600, which was #85 in units sold and #8 in dollars.
