LOVED the movie. It was badly marketed and didn't make the returns expected. Hate to be negative - I'd buy this comic but it veers too far into caricature and has little detail - not in Dave Stephens league.

Rocketeer is an awesome movie! Definitely worth a watch. It's a shame that we didn't see any more adventures.

I always wondered why he didn't burn his ass off while flying but y'know, I can suspend my disbelief. Lol. Great flick. Timeless.

Dave Stevens art was classic stuff for the original comics, this comic art is not even remotely in the same league, not even the same bloody sport!

I think The Rocketeer is an underrated adventure movie. I personally think it's a great film.

Joe Johnston directed it, and went on to also direct Captain America: TFA(my favorite CBM of 2011). :)

I would love to see a new Rocketeer movie!

Why does he wear the helmet...anyone know? im not familiar with the character.
mgeoff88

@Hobgobby Aerodynamics and control. That fin on his helmet acts like a rudder on a plane, and allows him to turn, ascend and descend with much more control.

He's propelled by his jetpack pack only. His means of jet propulsion isn't as advanced as Iron Man's suit; the character's universe is set in the late 1930's. But as a plus, The Rocketeer's helmet looks cool. :)

@damntree
The jet propulsion from his rocket pack aided in saving the plane NOT super strength.
I can't tell if your trying to be funny,which your not,or your just incredibly stupid..oh yea,you are.

They should have a sequel where his descendant lives under some scary oppressive regime in the future, finds the pack in the attic (etc), and busts onto the scene retro-hero style.

@Splenda, yeah he was. Maybe that's where Chuck got the idea for his character's identity.
