UPDATE: A New Avengers: Doomsday Teaser Will Be Released This Week - But Will It Be A Full Trailer?

We now have confirmation that something Avengers: Doomsday related will release online this Friday to coincide with tickets going on sale...

UPDATE: Daniel Richtman has shared some new details on what we can expect to see at D23 tomorrow, specifically what is most likely to be released to the public.

According to the scooper, we will see a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, along with the first teaser for VisionQuest, and a first look at Star Wars: Starfighter.

Speculation continues to mount that the cast of Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot will be announced during the event, but we have heard that several main roles have yet to be locked down, so they may decide to hold off.

Original story follows.

It seems we will see something new from Avengers: Doomsday this week after all.

Daniel Richtman has now confirmed that global tickets for the massive MCU event movie (Infinity Vision tickets went on sale in the U.S. last month) will go on sale this Friday, and the announcement will be accompanied by new marketing material.

The scooper says "it could be a full trailer, a mini-trailer, a featurette, or a clip."

A new trailer is a possibility, but there's a chance Marvel Studios will decide to save a second full preview for a later date and debut some new footage via a behind-the-scenes featurette (they have accompanied tickets-on-sale announcements in the past) instead.

During a recent post-SDCC interview with EW, star Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he has seen an early cut of the movie, and believes it might be the film that "redeems" the MCU.

“It is absolutely fantastic," said the Academy Award-winner when asked for his opinion on the movie. "I think we may redeem ourselves yet.”

Any actor sharing praise for their own film should obviously be taken with a grain of salt (he's hardly going to say it's terrible), but it is interesting that RDJ seems to agree with the consensus that the franchise is in need of redemption.

Though there have been a few bright spots (Deadpool and Wolverine, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), fans generally view the Multiverse Saga as a disappointment overall, and the studio evidently feels that there is a lot of pressure on Doomsday to get the MCU back on track.

In a separate interview with People.com, directors Joe and Anthony Russo shared their reactions to hearing RDJ's Doom voice for the first time.

"That was something that Robert surprised us with one day,” Anthony says. “You know, we were talking about all the details of the character — the voice, of course, is a key part of it, especially in the mask.” “So one day I think it was in the trailer, we were just sort of talking about some ideas and he broke out into the voice,” Anthony continues. “And we knew at that moment, that was it.”

Joe adds that he got "chills" upon hearing the accent Downey planned to use for the Latverian villain.

“I mean, it was one of those moments. It’d probably be one of the more memorable moments. —that and the ‘I Am Iron Man’ [sequence] when he snapped his fingers. Robert tends to present a lot of those super memorable moments.”

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Doomsday will star:

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent

Along with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

@krayzeman - I kinda feel the opposite considering no one in Brand New Day is in Doomsday and the way they wrote Jean Grey completely tanked any hope I had for the Xmen reboot. I guess if there is one thing I'm looking forward to it's the Foxmen. Hopefully they aren't just cannon fodder in the film.

Cool…

I feel like it’s too soon for a new trailer given we got one only a few weeks ago so this is likely a featurette imo but we’ll see.

If we do get a trailer then i hope it’s the SDCC one or similar to it since that was really good imo and more hype inducing then the teaser which still had its moments imo!!.

The 1st teaser hyped me up even though alot of people on here seem to hate jt .. whatever.. anyways what i think im most excited about is that RDJ knows the multiverse saga sucked and said he thinks this move will redeem the MCU... that has me most excited. Guess we'll find out Friday. Doesn't matter j already got my opening day Dolby tic

If Sony pays for the Spider-man movies and benefits from getting access to some Disney characters, then why not just continue to make Spider-man movies? Why bother with all this new stuff when they could just do a Spider-man movie every 18 months or so and be raking in around $1.5-$2bn a year?

Seems like a massive waste of time and money to make a new Avengers movie that's primarily bringing together characters from films that barely broke even or flopped at the box office. There's no point in the shared universe continuity model anymore, they don't stick to the continuity and it's just combining the weakest aspects from previous movies.

Spike101 - 8/13/2026, 7:57 AM
I’m not sure we really need to see any more of the footage now, better to leave it all until the movie is released surely.

Cool if true…

I can see the Doomsday trailer coming online with the tickets going on sale aswell as the teaser for VisionQuest (don’t think we will get that Starfighter trailer just yet).

I think they’ll hold off on Daredevil and YFNS news until NYCC in October imo!!.
