The Ultra-Sapiens, a genetic super race, are walking weapons of mass
destruction. They have to be watched all the time to ensure the safety of the
world. Whenever the balance on Earth is in danger by one of these super-humans,
only the HUNTER-KILLERS can save the day.
HUNTER-KILLER was first published in it's own comic in MARCH, 2005.
It was written by the brilliant MARK WAID and drawn by the equally
brilliant MARC SILVESTRI. There were three other alternative covers to
that first issue. (I guess you could call this the MARC & MARK Show!
LOL
THE HUNTER-KILLER PREMISE:
Everything you know about this world is not just a lie, it's a clever fairy
tale meant to keep you in line, fat and believing all those fabricated news
stories on television. The truth? Super-humans walk among us. You see them
everywhere you go probably. That guy at the bus stop, the one dressed in the
sharp suit? He can lift that bus. That cute girl at the coffee shop? She could
break every blood vessel in your brain with just a thought.
Known to only a choice few, these "Ultra-Sapiens" are a genetic super race
living in secret amongst us. They have been doing so since the late 1940s
when a brilliant scientist invented a genetic coding process. The process
involved branding ordinary men and women with a tattoo-like graft, called a
"technoderm," which genetically altered the subjects and granted them
super human abilities. These men and women became walking weapons of
mass destruction whose habits and movements had to be monitored
constantly to ensure the safety of the entire planet.
Since that time, every major war, conflict or international news story
involved Ultra-sapiens in one fashion or another. Remember the Cuban
Missile Crisis? There were no missile, no nuclear stockpile. The real threat
was from an army of Ultra-sapiens looking to over throw the United States
government. And the best part of it all? They succeeded.
In order to maintain control and the balance of world power there was an
urgent need to track and monitor all known Ultra-sapiens. Unfortunately, all
this data was lost when a small group of rogue Ultra-sapiens decided to rebel
against those in a position of authority. The rogues had grown tired of being
used as weapons and more importantly, being treated like weapons. Their
defection was an effort to reclaim their humanity. After the defection,
hundreds of Ultra-sapiens went off the grid. Hundreds of walking hand
grenades moving around, unchecked and a danger to everyone they met. The
Hunter-Killer program was created in order to once again track and contain
these Ultra-sapiens. Hunter-Killers are Ultra-sapiens themselves, working
with those in authority to track, contain and if necessary, neutralize any
unregistered Ultra-sapien who proves to be a threat.
Sound ridiculous? You're not the only one to think so. A young man named
Ellis thought the same thing you do and like you, he had been lied to his
entire life. All that changed the day the Hunter-Killers showed up at his door
and his parents started lobbing napalm from their hands and turning into
giant armor-clad beasts. Ellis discovered he was just like his parents, he was
an Ultra-sapien. In fact, probably the most important Ultra-sapien that ever
was. Now he knows the truth. At least, he thinks he does...

The overall head of the HUNTER-KILLERS and an Ultra-sapien himself,
he controls much of the world and is in a constant battle to save it from
itself. He actually was the creator of PROJECT USA in the 40's but he is
vastly powerful and looks young, he doesn't seem to age. A time traveling Ultra
Sapien named CASSANDRA had come from the future to tell him that the world
would end soon if he didn't do something about it. From then on he
has striven to protect it by ANY MEANS!
TEDDY SEARS: THE DEFENDERS, RAISING THE BAR, LAW & ORDER SVU (TV). Man, he is
the spitting image of MORNINGSTAR!
MORNINGSTAR (JAMES MORNINGSTAR): TEDDY SEARS
Samantha is an Ultra Sapien with uncontrollable energy powers. She is the
leader of the Hunter-Killers field squad. Samantha was first discovered on a
mission to capture the rogue ,Wolf, on a westbound Amtrak twenty miles out of
Denver.
Wolf was killing passengers and agents in his attempt to get away. Samantha
unleashed her powers to stop Wolf and prove to herself that she is not a curse
and danger to others. Samantha killed most of the people on the train except
her and wolf, the total was one hundred and thirty two people she killed in her
first act of her powers. It was after this incident that she was brought into
the fold of HUNTER-KILLER by MORNINGSTAR. Samantha Argent is a stellar and
focused operative, but she never has forgotten the victims of that train, nor
does she ignore the casualties she feels responsible for when in the field.
Samantha keeps a tally sheet of those lives she feels responsible for taking
and those that she has saved.
TAYLOR COLE is an up-and-coming young actress and would be great for SAMANTHA,
she's definitely my choice for WONDER WOMAN.
TAYLOR COLE: NBC'S “THE EVENT”, ENTOURAGE & HEROES (TV), “SURROGATES” with
BRUCE WILLIS.
SAMANTHA ARGENT: TAYLOR COLE
ELLIS is an Ultra-sapien with the ability to copy the powers of other Ultra-
sapiens near him. Ellis is the son of two Ultra-sapiens that escaped from the
government and were instrumental in the destruction of PROJECT USA.
Ellis and his parents lived alone with little to no contact from the outside
world. He lived a normal life except that on Saturdays he was hypnotized and
taught how to fight with and without weapons as well as other survival skills
so he grew up thinking there were only 6 days a week. While he grew up, Ellis
was taught the real history of America, including the people who are really in
charge of things, but he was told nothing about Ultra-sapiens or Project: USA.
One morning his family was attacked by HUNTER-KILLERS and his mother (some sort
of living fusion bomb) blew herself up to protect Ellis and his father. When
the HUNTER-KILLERS didn't stop coming, Ellis' father tried to kill him so the
HUNTER-KILLERS wouldn't be able to take him and use THE CATALOG that they had
put inside his DNA when he was born. The HUNTER-KILLERS wanted the Catalog so
they could find other Ultras easier so they killed Ellis' father before he
could kill his son. They took him to their base and after explaining to him
what was going on (much of this explanation was lies) they got him to join the
team in hunting down other Ultras. Ellis doesn't like that most of the Ultras
they find get killed, but some are brought in alive so he continues to work
with them.
JASON RITTER just has that every-day young-guy look so I think the son of
JOHN RITTER is perfect for ELLIS. JASON RITTER: NBC'S “THE
EVENT”, PARENTHOOD (TV).
ELLIS: JASON RITTER
She came from the future to warn MORNINGSTAR of the world's
impending doom but even though MORNINGSTAR and HUNTER-KILLER
fought hard to stop it CASSANDRA still has to keep coming back
to warn again and again.
JANUARY JONES: X-MEN:FIRST CLASS as EMMA FROST, MAD MEN
(TV).
CASSANDRA: JANUARY JONES
WOLF is an Ultra-sapien, he can form blades of energy on his arms and
turn invisible. He's very skilled in the art of assassination. He was once part
of the HUNTER-KILLERS, and not only was he an agent for them, he was the best.
At some point Wolf broke away from the group for reasons that are currently
unknown. He stopped working with them but continued to hunt down other Ultra-
sapiens on his own. He always seems to be following the HUNTER-KILLERS and
interfering with their targets. His current goal seems to be to kill ELLIS
though he's had his chances and hasn't taken them. He also has an ongoing
relationship with HUNTER-KILLER field leader, SAMANTHA ARGENT. He seems to be
protecting the other Ultra Sapiens to keep SAMANTHA from finding their
locations.
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Well, JOE MANGANIELLO ain't...He 'IS'
the big bad WOLF! LOL
WOLF: JOE MANGANIELLO
Cloaker is a telepath that creates illusions for the Hunter-Killer field team.
His skills are necessary to cover up Hunter-Killer activities and make sure the
armed soldiers aren't noticed by people. His powers allow him to manipulate
people’s visual cortex which he takes advantage of when he makes it look like
SAMANTHA is in a French maid outfit in front of everyone as payback because she
keeps stealing his stapler.
LEONARD ROBERTS: HEROES (TV), SMALLVILLE (NAM-EK)
CLOAKER (JOHN BRADLEY SEALS): LEONARD ROBERTS
TRANSPORTER is a German Ultra-sapien who is capable of opening
localized wormholes allowing him to teleport from place to place.
TRANSPORTER (HELMER KHOLE): BEN FOSTER
By plugging cables that run from his head into computers, he can boost
their speed and efficiency thousands of times over. The entire computer
system of the HUNTER-KILLERS runs through his head and without him
it would all crash.
BARRETT FOA: Plays the geeky tech-guy on CBS'S NCIS: L.A. He's
perfect for this role, he looks just like the dude in the comic. It's strange!

NETWORK (JAY HENNEDY): BARRETT FOA
Damper is an obese couch potato who has the ability to "eat" the powers of
other Ultra-Sapiens. No one can use their powers within about a quarter mile.
He basically sits in the HUNTER-KILLER base and makes it safe from
powers.
ETHAN SUPLEE (Soo-plee): MY NAME IS EARL (TV), REMEMBER THE TITANS.
DAMPER (DUNSTAN DONALD): ETHAN SUPLEE
The Architect is an autistic savant capable of warping matter with his
imagination. He designs all of the HUNTER-KILLER bases by dreaming them up and
willing them to appear.
JAMES CALLIS ceases to amaze me as an actor. He plays crazies and
mentally-challenged people very well but he's also a fantastic all around
actor, I don't think there is a role he could not somehow find a way to master!
FLASHFORWARD, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, EUREKA (TV).
ARCHITECHT: JAMES CALLIS
Fire-wielding Bounty Hunter sent to track down ELLIS.

An agent working for the HUNTER-KILLER program who can read
memories.
HARUSPEX: MIKE VOGEL
Serpentine Bounty Hunter sent to capture ELLIS.
DOHRSYN: DIORA BAIRD + CGI
CATHY CTHULU is a rogue Ultra-sapien agent with shapeshifting powers.
Cathy is first encountered by WOLF in a diner in Buffalo, NY. She had killed
the previous owners and taken over the form of a waitress. Wolf identifies her
after a cop noted her tattoos, causing her to momentarily lose her
concentration. According to the Hunter-Killer files, she is designated as a
firstgen Ultra-sapien, number 46-R. Her file says she is a shapeshifting
succubus and a level 3 assassin. When she feeds, she drains the life out of
victims without remorse and then takes their shape. She is killed by Wolf but
her brain waves remain long enough for Agent HARUSPEX to read them and find the
location of THE CATALOG.
