Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 ended with Wilson Fisk exiled from New York and Matt Murdock placed behind bars. Set photos for Season 3 have confirmed that both the Kingpin and Man Without Fear will eventually return to Hell's Kitchen, though how they will do so remains a mystery.
Shortly after the Season 2 finale, showrunner Dario Scardapane said that roughly a year passes between the show's second and third seasons.
That understandably raised some eyebrows, as a year is a long time for Daredevil to be stuck in prison. Now, though, Vincent D'Onofrio has revealed that Daredevil: Born Again's time-jump isn't as significant as we thought.
"Charlie [Cox] and I have been involved in every aspect of the show, not just the acting. So, it's been a completely different experience and also fulfilling and really brutal and really hard on the body," the Kingpin actor revealed (via @_DaredevilShots). "Charlie and Wilson [Bethel] do a lot more stunts than I do, but this season it was a brutal season for all of us"
"There's a lot of action in the season, and we picked up literally only six months after the second season ends. So, he went to prison, I got exiled somewhere, right? I'm not going to say where, but I am, and then, you know, because we can't help it, we get back together again," D'Onofrio confirmed. "But you know it's a completely different feeling inside and out during the new iteration and fulfilling."
Many fans have grown tired of seeing Daredevil and Kingpin squaring off on screen, but it doesn't appear that Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again will have a new big bad (unless the female Muse is set to fill that role for most of the season).
With Elektra back, there's a strong likelihood that we'll see The Hand in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, especially after their return to the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day last month. Beyond that, we don't know, but with Daredevil, Elektra, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Bullseye all in play, things are about to get very interesting in this corner of the MCU.
As of now, Daredevil: Born Again still hasn't been renewed for Season 4. There's a chance that we'll get some news about that during Marvel Studios' presentation at D23 this Friday, though the spotlight is expected to be on the X-Men reboot.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 premieres on Disney+ next year.
