Oscars 2013: Visual Effects Short List Announced

CBM fans should be glad some of our favorite 2013 movies made the cut. Here is the list of the 10 titles nominated:

1. Elysium

2. Gravity

3. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

4. Iron Man 3

5. The Lone Ranger

6. Oblivion

7. Star Trek Into Darkness

8. Thor: The Dark World

9. Pacific Rim

10. World War Z

We should be exited to see IM3 and TTDW as part of this list, but disappointed that 2 other CMB titles didn't make the cut. As you were already able to tell Man of Steel and The Wolverine did not get nominated. I don't know of anyone who was rooting for The Wolverine, but Man of Steel, in spite of its lukewarm critical reception, I think everyone could agree it featured some groundbreaking visuals. What do you think? Is it unfair for the Academy to overlook these CBMs? Do you agree with the list? Do you have a better list? Who do you think should win? Leave your opinion down bellow.
