Bryan Fuller stepping down as showrunner on Star Trek Discovery was definitely seen as a major blow to the production, but we have some news that should put a smile back on Trekkies' faces. According to one of Fuller's replacements Nicholas Meyer, Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Sunshine, Tomorrow never Dies) is the first cast member to join the latest TV journey to the final frontier.
Though Meyer didn't confirm which character Yeoh would play, it's a safe enough bet that she's been cast in the female lead role, who so far has been referred to only as "Number One."
Star Trek Discovery is set to premiere on CBS All Access in May 2017.
