It is the age old debate among sci-fi fans. Now the first Captain of the Starship Enterprise settles it once and for all. Guess which side he lands on?..

On any forum, blog or site on the net you will see it. "I'm a Star Wars man", "I've always been a Trekkie", "I like both but I prefer..". Despite being vastly different in so many ways both franchises have become rivals for many a fanboy's affections over the years. Now in the below vid Captain James T Kirk himself William Shatner gives his take on which is better. It's not hard to guess where his loyalties lie but whether you agree with him or not, he makes some every valid points..

I'm not going to paraphrase what he says because it's well worth taking the 3 minutes to watch yourselves. Personally I have always fallen into the "I like both but prefer Star Wars" camp. In saying that I can't actually argue with anything Shatner says here. Whether that make Star Trek "better" I don't know. I will say this though, J.J Abrams recent reboot was infinitely better on every level than those excuses for prequels we got from George Lucas. But that's just my take, what do you guys think?
