'Princess Leia' Will Appear On STAR WARS REBELS
Well, that's a surprise! When Star Wars Rebels return to TV next week, Princess Leia Organa will appear on the series to help Kanan and company build the Rebel Alliance, and take down the Empire! To read all the details about her appearance, hit the jump to check it out!
TVInsider has just revealed that Princess Leia Organa will appear on Star Wars Rebels when the series makes its returns next week! She will appear on the newest episode titled, "A Princess in Lothal", which is set to air on January 20 at 9/8c on Disney XD. The site describes the episode as followed:
"The teenage princess is sent to Lothal—the base planet for the series’ main characters, a group of rebel fighters—on a secret mission to bring ships for the rebel fleet. Unfortunately an Imperial lockdown throws that plan into chaos."
With the appearance of Leia, this marks the sixth time a character from the original Star Wars films have appeared on Star Wars Rebels (Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, Yoda and Lando Calrissian). It should also be noted that Carrie Fisher will not reprise her role in the show, instead Julie Dola (who did the voice for Leia in Star Wars: Uprising), will take on the role.
Dave Filoni, the executive producer of the series, revealed his thoughts on the awesome announcement. “We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope. One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent." It's going to be very interesting to see what Princess Leia - who is now General Leia in the newest Star Wars film- will bring to the series! I don't know about you, but I know i'll be tuning in!
