RUMOR: New Details On How DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN, THE PUNISHER, And SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Are Connected

A new rumour claims to shed light on how Daredevil: Born Again, The Punisher Special Presentation, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day link up, including J. Jonah Jameson's thoughts on Mayor Wilson Fisk...

With Daredevil: Born Again, The Punisher Special Presentation, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel Studios is finally exploring street-level crime in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle is set to factor heavily into the next Spider-Man movie, but as of now, there's no indication that Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear will join him and Tom Holland's web-slinger.

We may have some insights thanks to The Cosmic Circus, though, as the site's Alex Perez has addressed the supposed timeline for these projects.

"Born Again season 1, Punisher close to season 2, Brand New Day," the scooper said, before addressing how Daredevil: Born Again sets up Spider-Man: Brand New Day. "Kingpin's Rule of Law and how it affects Spider-Man as a hero. Also, J. Jonah Jameson? Not the biggest fan of Kingpin. Sure, he agrees with the politics, but he sees through his web of lies."

The scooper was also asked whether Disney and Marvel Studios have any regrets about canonising Netflix's Defenders after he previously claimed that the House of Mouse wasn't "impressed" with Daredevil: Born Again season 1's performance.

"When I said they weren’t impressed, that was back before the project was overhauled and reshot," he stated. "And I don’t think they regret canonising it because, if anything, they double down on it in seasons 2 and 3."

Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones is set to appear in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, with Mike Colter's Luke Cage expected to closely follow. As for Iron Fist, his MCU status is very much TBD.

Still, with the way things are going, it's looking increasingly likely that the Defenders will once again assemble (Daredevil: Born Again season 3 being greenlit only serves to make that a stronger possibility).

Back to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it sounds like a reunion for Peter Parker and MJ may be in the cards...

Spider-Man: Brand New Day shares a title with a divisive era of storytelling, which, thanks to a deal with Mephisto, saw the wall-crawler get a fresh start when his marriage to Mary Jane Watson ended and his identity became secret again. He faced many new sinister foes during that time and was surrounded by an overhauled supporting cast, including a resurrected Harry Osborn.

Mister Negative, Jackpot, Menace, and Carlie Cooper were some of the standout additions to his world, though they don't currently look set to appear in this movie. Instead, all signs point to Spidey teaming up with (and at some point fighting) The Punisher to take on a Savage Hulk, with The Scorpion thrown in for good measure.

Several other villains are reportedly set to appear in the movie, including Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Ramrod. There's been some chatter online about the Venom Symbiote factoring into the story, potentially setting the stage for Mac Gargan to eventually don the alien costume.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton directs Spider-Man: Brand New Day from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland leads a cast that also includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh is also rumoured to have joined the cast.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.

Marvel could really knock it out of the park with a Disney+/Theater experience with Semi-Saga stories set within the primary main Saga. For example Daredevil Born Again should lead directly into The Punisher which leads into Daredevil Season 2 which leads into Spider-Man: Brand New Day which leads into Doomsday that leads into Secret Wars and then the Rebooted MCU leads into Daredevil Season 3. The Disney+ shows should act as filler and side stories rather than main events.

@SonOfAGif - Or they could just focus on one show, and make audiences tune in to those shows by having most MCU actors reprise their roles in one episode each. Kinda like an Agents of SHIELD thing, but better.

The problem with the Multiverse Saga is its reliance on multiple MCU content to stay in touch with its expanding story. There's so many of them, Marvel can release its shows into films in a similar vein to the Demon Slayer franchise. For the sake of simplicity.

She was perfect in the role. And she has always seemed like a nice classy lady.

@OrgasmicPotatoe - The only comic accurate Aunt May although the changes to her character in the next two series didn’t bother me. They actually made a little more sense because aunt made the comics look like she would have been great aunt me instead of just aunt May.

@RolandD - My thoughts exactly. I like all three movie Aunt Mays, for all their differences, but Rosemary Harris is Aunt May ripped right out of the comics !

So, if Spider-Man has to do with the events of Born Again, then what does that say about them saying the Netflix shows were hurting their films' performances?

What good does it do to recognize a problem of you aren't going to change anything?

I wish it was Spidey and DD vs Kingpin and a misguided Punisher like they are trying to stop him from killing Kingpin or Punisher being manipulated by Kingpin something like that
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 9/19/2025, 7:44 PM
Wait , is he saying (or implying) that Kingpin could still be in power post BA S2 leading into BND?…

I say that because I thought we would have the whole Mayor Fisk story end in S2 with Fisk being hailed or maybe leave NY with Vanessa but if not then that could be interesting.

Also I know some feel this Alex Jones-esque JJJ shouldn’t be humanized (and understandably so) but I feel that way he can become his own character so making him a fan of Fisk’s politics but not the man himself could add a more intriguing dimension of complexity to this take.

@WalletsClosed -

If you hate everything the MCU & DCU are putting out, why do you come to this website which is about 90% dedicated to movies and shows produced about the MCU & DCU?

Are you one of those butthurt friendless trolls who just enjoy sh!tting on everything just to start trouble with strangers?

I'm sure your school must have a counselor you could talk to.

@DocSpock - I often wonder how walletsclosed and forthas are in real life. Wonder if they’re different I person and if we’d all just get along and have fun talking about this stuff. In the end we’re all just comic fans and I think the messages on here come off more contentious than it’s intended. On all sides.

@epc1122 -

They are definitely not the same person. @Forthas has been on here for many years. He is a huge lover of the Snyder Universe. This does not make him unique. He has some good arguments and is very opinionated, but he's a good user on this site. walletsclosed just showed up weeks ago and pretty much hates everything and everyone that this site is about. I have no idea why he even bothers coming here other than being a sad person who just likes to cause trouble.

@DocSpock - Funny you say that, as when I was reading comments about Netflix buying DC, Forthas and WalletsClosed said the exact same thing within 5 mins of each other, which made me wonder if they are in fact the same person just stirring up the pot.

Hmmmmm. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe long-time user Forthas made a second account. I would be surprised, but I guess it's possible.

@DocSpock - I find them both way too repetitive to the point where I’m really trying to respond to them less bc it just turns into endless nonsense. But with that said, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and wish them both no harm. Wonder how they are in real life.
