Spider-Man: Brand New Day Toy May Reveal Sadie Sink's Mystery MCU Role - But Is It Real?

After a weekend dominated by Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaks, a new toy may reveal a first look at Sadie Sink's MCU character. However, is it the real deal or yet another AI fake meant to fool fans?

By JoshWilding - Jun 08, 2026 01:06 PM EST

For months now, speculation and rumours about who Sadie Sink is playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day have dominated the conversation. Characters like Shathra, the Spider Queen, the "real" Mary Jane Watson, and, most frequently, Jean Grey, are among the supposed possibilities.

Jean was the first rumour we heard, and it's one the vast majority of social media scoopers now seem to agree on. It's an odd choice on Marvel Studios' part, but how better to soft-launch the MCU's X-Men than putting Marvel Girl front and centre in a new Spider-Man movie?

The question we're asking today is whether some newly surfaced merchandise for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally confirmed the Jean Grey rumours.

A bag clip, which is allegedly the mystery figure in the blind bags now on sale in Target, shows Sink's character in the costume from set photos/leaked stills. Pink energy is seen coming from her head, hands, and eyes, seemingly confirming that she's Jean.

We know Sink's mystery antagonist will use mind control, and if she's been persecuted and captured by the Department of Damage Control, it makes sense why she'd target Spider-Man. After all, it seems like they've bamboozled the wall-crawler into working with them.

Is this leaked toy the real deal? As of now, there's no way of knowing for sure. We lean towards it not being legitimate, especially as it doesn't match the silhouette seen on the packaging for the other figures. However, when real leaked images are enhanced by AI, it's impossible to use the usual methods to determine their legitimacy.

As always, though, we'll leave it up to you to decide whether this Spider-Man: Brand New Day leak passes the sniff test.

However, lending some weight to the possibility that the toy is real is a cryptic post from The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez. He shared this shortly after this newest "leak," but whether he knows something or is taking a stab in the dark is up for debate...

Following the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: No Way HomeSpider-Man: Brand New Day begins a brand new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult and living alone after erasing himself and the memories of him from those he loves.

In a New York that no longer knows his name, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to protecting his city as Spider-Man full-time. But as the demands on him grow, he is put under increasing pressure. This triggers an unexpected physical change that threatens his existence, while a strange wave of crime emerges - and gives rise to one of the most dangerous threats he has ever faced.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.

The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers. The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O'Connor.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.

Crazy that we are about 6 weeks away from the movie coming out and we have only seen one trailer and little marketing around who the characters are.

@hainesy - Crazy in a good way. feels nice to go to a movie and not know the entire plot and every character that will appear. I just wonder if the "journalists" here will take any accountability for all the false information that they spread after the movie is released and they are proven wrong.

While it could be real it would be the only one of these with a different design on the feet and the hands. All the other figures have actual feet and hands with fingers.

I call bullshit. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, if they're going for younger X-Men for the next movie, it would make sense, especially if Banner somehow gets his mind screwed with and reverts to Savage Hulk🤷🏾‍♂️

The toy is real but Sadie Sink is not. She's actually an AI like Lilly Bubblebutt or whatever she's called.

Supergirl’ Ticket Sales Are In — And They’re Worse Than Black Widow
The early ticket sales numbers are in for Supergirl, and they are not good.

According to Portal Box Office, Supergirl sold approximately 110,000 tickets in its first 24 hours of availability in the United States, grossing around $1.75 million in pre-sales.

For context, that puts the DCU film below several recent superhero benchmarks at the same stage:

Superman: 325,000 tickets / $5 million
Black Widow: 175,000 tickets / $2.4 million
Thunderbolts: 160,000 tickets / $2.5 million
The only major superhero film Supergirl comes out ahead of is The Marvels, which sold 95,000 tickets for $1.5 million at the same point, a film that went on to become one of the biggest box office disasters in Marvel history.

The Flash Comparison
That $55 million projection is significant because it mirrors The Flash, which opened to $55 million domestically in 2023 before collapsing at the box office. The Flash had a reported budget north of $200 million and was widely considered a financial disaster for Warner Bros. Gunn is also reported to have been involved in changing the ending.

As we reported earlier, Supergirl is estimated to carry a budget of roughly $170 million with a break-even target around $425 million worldwide. The lower budget gives the film more room than The Flash had, but a $55 million opening would still put it in a difficult position to reach that number.

Portal Box Office also notes that pre-sales for Supergirl in Brazil are “still terrible — a worse start than The Flash.” International performance will be critical for any path to $425 million.

The Warning Signs Keep Adding Up

The AMC app crash that briefly generated fake ticket hype did nothing to change the underlying numbers, and the first 24-hour pre-sale count confirms it. Pre-sales are one of the clearest early signals of audience intent, and right now that signal is weak.

The Marvels comparison is the one that should concern DC Studios most. That film had the same pre-sale energy — or lack of it — and became the cautionary tale the industry still references when discussing what happens when a superhero campaign fails to connect with general audiences.

As we’ve covered, the core question around Supergirl was always whether casual moviegoers — not just DC fans — would show up. Pre-sales at this level suggest they are not yet convinced.

Three Weeks Out

Supergirl opens June 26. Pre-sales are not destiny — numbers can move — but the first 24 hours are the easiest hours. This is when the core fanbase, the most motivated buyers, show up first. If 110,000 tickets is the floor, that floor is low.

Warner Bros. needs a marketing push that reaches beyond the DC faithful. Right now the pre-sale data says it hasn’t happened yet.

@ClarkJoeKent - Supergirl isn’t gonna fly. It will 300-400 million tops maybe 500 due to the Lobo/Superman appeal. It’s nothing but a movie of the week. By the time Spiderman comes out it would have been forgotten. If it’s really good screenplay wise maybe it might match its cousin’s box office gross but that’s unlikely. I’m not expecting much from this. The recent clips are fine but it looks like every other superhero film of the last fifteen years.

@UceOmega - Superbrat won't make anywhere near 400 million. I'd be surprised if they get 300
UceOmega
UceOmega - 6/8/2026, 3:04 PM
@FireGunn - I think that’s why they included lobo and superman to give it extra legs. Without those two components you are looking at something that has very little appeal. I like Supergirl but I’d much rather see Mellisa Benoist or Sasha Calle reprise the role. Nothing against Alcock but this version is literally DC’s version of Guardians of the galaxy.

Def need a new Wolverine, Jackman is too old for her! lol 😂

Seriously, he’s played the part too long and we need fresh blood.

I get that the focus will be on the Summers family, but we could get the love triangle later on. That only works with a new Logan.

I for one will be glad to see it happen. He over stayed his welcome as far as I’m concerned.

I know fanboys don’t all feel the same way but that my opinion

The eyes also don't match the Monogram International style but the Funko Pop (round dark circles) style.
