BOX OFFICE: MAN OF STEEL Remains #1 In The UK Despite Competition From WORLD WAR Z

Monsters University doesn't open in the UK until next month (See? We don't get EVERYTHING first...), so Man of Steel only had one serious competitor this past weekend; World War Z. However, despite an aggressive advertising campaign by Paramount, the Zack Snyder directed and Christopher Nolan produced reboot came out on top for a second week in a row. In North America, Man of Steel fell to third place. Despite a drop of 55% in ticket sales, it just managed to beat World War Z and faced no real competition from new releases, Before Midnight and Snitch. The UK box office top ten in full can be found below along with some updates from across the pond.

1. (1) Man of Steel - £5,073,356
2. (-) World War Z - £4,535,899
3. (2) After Earth - £432,881
4. (5) Behind the Candelabra - £367,888
5. (3) The Hangover Part III - £316,888
6. (-) Snitch - £268,229
7. (4) Epic - £251,038
8. (-) Before Midnight - £244,231
9. (6) Fast & Furious 6 - £160,851
10. (7) The Great Gatsby - £158,927
