RUMOR: Finn Jones Will Be Back As IRON FIST; Return To Be Teased In DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2

Though he may not actually appear this season, a new rumor is claiming that Finn Jones' return as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, will be hinted at in Daredevil: Born Again...

Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and Mike Colter has dropped some pretty big hints that he will also be back as Luke Cage. But what about Iron Fist?

Though Finn Jones' take on Danny Rand does have his defenders, it's fair to say that he was the least popular character introduced in Netflix's Marvel shows. Even so, if Miss Jones and Cage are returning to lend a hand to their old Defenders teammate Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), it only seems right that the mystical martial artist would also factor into the story.

Here's what Jones had to say about potentially returning as Rand and the audience's reception to the character last year.

“[There’s a] willingness for the fans to see that happen," said the Game of Thrones alum when asked if we'd be seeing him in the MCU at some point. "There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f*cking chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready.”

“I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen,” he added.

Well, it seems we might just see it happen - though not necessarily in Born Again season 2.

According to @Cryptic4KQual, the plan is for Jones to step back into the role of Danny Rand, and if he doesn't actually appear in season 2 of DDBA, his return will be teased.

Josh from Den of Nerds also shared the following:

This is pure speculation on our part, but we don't see Cage or Rand having substantial roles in season 2. If they do return, Colter and Jones will likely be saved for the finale or a post-credits scene to set up season 3.

After Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) declared martial law with the help of his anti-vigilante task force in the season 1 finale, Matt Murdock decided to fight back by assembling a team of his own. The line-up was lacking a bit of muscle, but Jessica Jones will be on hand to even the odds a little.

Which other characters will ultimately make up Murdock's "army" remains to be seen, but based on what we've heard, there are going to be more super-powered heroes joining the fray in season 2 than you might expect.

Across eight gripping episodes, survival, resistance and redemption collide as the battle for the soul of New York begins," reads the season 2 synopsis. "In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild."

One of the worst castings of all time. Is he going to work out and practice martial arts this time?

Reboot the MCU and DCU

@FireGunn - He didn't get the chance to do any training for Season 1 because Marvel TV put the show together quicly and Finn had to learn fight choreography minutes before filming scenes. That's Marvel TV's (Now defunct) fault.

Finn did 6 months of training before filming season 2.

@Mercwitham0uth - He was shit in Season 2 as well. He's an awful Iron Fist in every way. His best performance was his cameo episode in Luke Cage S2. If they bring him back, they need to keep him with Luke because he's awful on his own

@FireGunn - A lead who can't throw a single convincing punch means more work for the stunt crew, which is good for the industry.

I feel like these scoopers are just regurgitating the same scoops like a snake eating its own tail but in somewhat different ways…

Anyway , I hope Finn is back as Danny since he was given the short end of the stick when it came to the Netflix leads since he was only cast a month before shooting with little to no time to train & such since they went directly into Defenders (he eventually got a break and asked Marvel to be given more training time for IF S2).

Plus , I felt he did well in the role even if the material & direction he was given wasn’t great especially in S1…

He captured the reckless & youthful nature of the character well aswell as the zen and calmness post-Defenders so I hope he’s given another shot that allows him to reach his potential in the role!!.

P.S: I feel the mantle has already been passed to Colleen but perhaps they could share the role?.

I found him tolerable in his appearance on Luke Cage. If he actually trains this time around and is written like that I don't mind him being back. I just hope Tom Pelphry returns with him, dude is a fantastic actor.

If BA S2 ends with Matt going to prison with his identity exposed for his vigilante activities , I could see them taking inspiration from Brubaker’s Daredevil by having Danny take up that mantle…

You could then have Matt escape prison or get out due to technicality in BA S3 which would allow him to confront this imposter only to find out it’s Danny by recreating this panel imo.

It could be a fun way to reintegrate Finn!!.

Teased in Season 2?!

All the Defenders + Moon Knight + Kate Bishop + even Spider-Man shoulda been in that last scene of Season 1 instead of the bunch of randos we got. Now they're wrapping up the Devil's Reign storyline in Season 2 and all we're getting is a tease?!?!

And I say this as someone who might actually projectile vomit onto my television if he saw this version of Iron Fist again. But knowing we're getting a reboot coming he may as well reprise the role one last time with his fellow Defenders compatriots.

Also if there are plans for the tv & movie side to not cross over that much , that could work to the favor of Shang Chi & Iron Fist…

You could have the former be the main martial arts character on the big screen while Danny or whoever is the one on the small screen.

I don't think it's fully on purpose because of the multitude of writers involved, but I really enjoy how hectic the Master's regens are. The Doctor's seem downright stable and consistent as we jump from one to the next.

If this dude hasn’t been training martial arts for the past 5 years and is about to be Iron Fist again I’d say NO THANK YOU! Save us the bad fight choreography or hire an amazing stunt double and never show Finn’s face.

Good. Bring him back. Passing the torch could work, but he’s a decent actor and with the right script (and budget), could be a great Iron First.

He and Colter also have great chemistry. I’d love a Heroes For Hire series or special presentation with those two.

@Polaris - god , I hope so

Tom Pehlprey is a great actor and I really wanted to see Ward & Danny’s buddy trio to find Orson Randall in S3 since their burgeoning friendship became one of my favorite parts of IF S2.

For all the hate, I was really feeling Iron Fist. True it was very flawed, but it was dripping with potential. Now in Marvel’s hands they could deliver the character we should have gotten originally, and if we’re lucky we’ll get a hero’s for hire series.

But if they are just going to pass the baton, then I’ll pass altogether.
