SHE-HULK Star Tatiana Maslany Calls On Fans To Boycott Disney+ In Response To Jimmy Kimmel's Suspension

In the wake of Jimmy Kimmel's suspension by the Disney-owned ABC, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany has implored her followers on social media to cancel their subscriptions to Disney+...

By now, we're sure you're aware of what's been happening with Jimmy Kimmel Live! host, Jimmy Kimmel. To bring you up to speed, he recently opened an episode of his show with a monologue saying that the "MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them."

Kimmel went on to accuse those on the right of "doing everything they can to score political points from it" and "working very hard to capitalise on the murder," before playing a clip of a reporter asking President Donald Trump how he was holding up after Kirk's murder.

When the Commander in Chief immediately pivoted to the subject of construction being done nearby for the White House's new ballroom, Kimmel joked that he'd entered "the fourth stage of grief: construction."

He later reminded viewers of rioters who, on 6 January 2021, "wanted to hang" Trump's first-term Vice President, Mike Pence, for certifying Joe Biden's 2020 election win. Soon after, an ABC spokesperson said Jimmy Kimmel Live! would "be pre-empted indefinitely," and it was later reported that Brendan Carr, the Chairman of the FCC, and an avid Trump supporter, threatened to "take action" against Disney and ABC.

Further pressure came from network operator NexStar, which operates more than 20 ABC affiliates (like Disney, it needs FCC approval for multi-billion dollar acquisitions). The backlash to Kimmel being taken off the air has been very vocal, especially as free speech in today's America is being called into question.

Many people, including former President Barack Obama, Watchmen actor Jean Smart, Severance director Ben Stiller, Frozen star Josh Gad, and Lanterns writer Damon Lindelof, have spoken out against the House of Mouse. Now, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany can be added to the list.

In an Instagram story, the Orphan Black star implored her 511,000 followers to cancel their Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN subscriptions in response to the decision to suspend Kimmel.

She did so while sharing what appears to be a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Maslany has already appeared relatively uninterested in returning to the MCU (Disney and Marvel Studios arguably didn't do enough to protect her from online trolls when the show launched), and this might just seal the deal.

There have been rumours about She-Hulk appearing in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars, but Maslany's status for both movies is very much TBD as we write this.

You can see a screenshot of Maslany's Instagram post below.

@SteviesRightFoo - they live on this planet too.

Do you think they magically disappear when you turn off the TV?

@UltimaRex - No, but it makes no objective buisness sense to drive away potential audience members when you depend on that.

@UltimaRex - Probably his point is that their opinion on political matters does not matter. They think that because of their popularity they can sway people to support their agenda, when their opinion matters as much as anyone else's. Plus, dividing your own audience when you depend on them is retarded and it's a quick way to be fired on that business.

Damn...talking about living inside a bubble. This is TATIANA MASLANY...not ANGELINA JOLIE. Stop pretending that every single actor gets millions of dollars in the industry.

@Irregular - lol In what part of my comment was I discussing her pay, was clearly focusing on her popularity. You don't need to be the most well paid actor in Hollywood to be popular. Yes, she does not have the same fanbase as Jolie, but a lot of people know who she is (like everybody in this site for example). It's not like she's some unknown upcoming actor. She has her fanbase. And I would find very unlikely that her entire fanbase is composed of liberals for example.

The main point of my comment was that if you are in the entertainment business you probably want as many people as possible to watch your work (simple logic) and you probably don't want to piss off one of the main studios in the world that could offer you future jobs (simple logic). Or do you think the higher ups at Disney are gonna be happy with this? I definitely won't be expecting her as She-Hulk after this lol

@Urubrodi - Maybe but they are still equaly entitled to HAVE and VOICE an opinion as anyone else regardless if we agree with their opinion or feel their voice carries more or less weight.

In regard to the ramifications of voicing opinions, maybe they feel exercising their freedom of speech is worth the potential career consequences, or maybe a tad short sighted or a combo of both but we kinda shouldn't be on the camp of telling people to not voice opinions realy regardless if it is any of us anon's here on this board or some actor he posts on instagram a view regardless of on the left or right politicaly or indeed if we agree or disagree with their opinion.

Urubrodi - 9/19/2025, 7:11 AM
@Apophis71 - Oh she can say whatever she wants, don't disagree there, but as it just happened with Kimmel there are always consequences. Best case scenario they will lose part of their followers/fanbase, worst case scenario will lose their job or have are harder time getting future work. So sure she is free to post or say whatever, if she doesn't mind the repercussion go for it, but... definitely not a smart choice career wise (especially considering that the likelihood that people are actually gonna listen to her and all leave Disney+ is quite low).

@Irregular - "Stop pretending that every single actor gets millions of dollars in the industry."

Maslany is apparently worth $3-$5 million.

@TheFinestSmack - Worth is different. Do you really think studios pay all their actors/actresses their net worth? Do you really think Tatiana is getting big paychecks? Also do you guys not know what's taken out of these checks if you do get $3-$5 million?

It's the equivalent of a 1099 job out there, not a promised salary because of your "worth."
Simonsonrules
Simonsonrules - 9/19/2025, 8:29 AM
@skyshark03191 - No. We'll leave that up to luminaries such as Trump, J.D. Vance, and Samuel Alito. Someone voiced an opinion with which you disagreed. They happen to be an actor. Where is your concern for the First Amendment?

@Irregular - I'm not saying she gets $3-$5 million checks. I'm saying her net worth is $3-$5 million. That's based on what she HAS earned as well as the properties she owns, minus any debt.

@WalletsClosed - not everything is about business. Some things supercede the almighty dollar. People who have platforms use them to try to influence change. Bothing wrong with that.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 9/19/2025, 9:30 AM
@UltimaRex - Yup... and I'm not here trying to sway people into some political leaning. Whether the people around here is left or right that's their business.

Look if she doesn't care that her opinion might damage her career (which appearently is the case) fair enough. Doesn't mean I need to find her decision smart.

@Irregular - most everyone in Hollywood has the same opinions because they’re in a bubble. Most all have therapists. They vote left. They love cancel culture for the right but pretend to be constitutionalists when they get a whiff of this on the left.

It is pretty funny
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 9/19/2025, 9:51 AM
@UltimaRex - Well she won't be accessing jobs insde Disney that's for sure... Which includes studios like 20th Century Studios or Searchlight, if she's after "more serious" roles. She's not closing the door just for She-Hulk, which let's be honest wouldn't be opening her many doors lol Plus, actors who cause problems in a major studio are not gonna be very attractive for other studios, just common sense.

@SteviesRightFoo - you mean real world events involving TV shows?
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/19/2025, 10:06 AM
@Lucasberg - Exactly. The difference is, the Right gets canceled for their personal tweets on their own accounts. TDS Jimmy was going full tard on his network show. He’s an employee and any employee can be fired for views and bile that harms the company image. Making tens of millions and being on TV does not change that.

And I boycotted Disney plus and Hulu a while ago because of all their agenda based programming and lack of quality content, so, one step ahead of ya She-Hulk!

@skyshark03191 - I'm not sure I understand your comment correctly.

This week it's the right censoring the left, last week it was the left censoring the right. I'm not pro right or pro left, I'm against censorship, and obviously against violence.

Although at this point, It has become very clear that democracy is dead, politicians don't give a [frick] about the people and we need to start over. And I don't see how things are going to change by electing more red or blue asswipes to govern.

@TheFinestSmack - LOL That's more than a blue collar worker or an IT makes in a year and if she made 12 episodes or more in a year she made $600,000.00 for just 12 episodes give or take after taxes. But her job wasn't heavy lifting or critical thinking just play pretend Barbie.
