TOMB RAIDER First Look Reveals Sophie Turner Suited Up As Video Game-Accurate Lara Croft

Amazon MGM Studios has shared a first look at Sophie Turner suited up as Lara Croft in Prime Video's Tomb Raider TV series, and the costume design sticks closely to the games.

As we first reported on GameFragger.com, Amazon MGM Studios has announced that production is officially underway on its upcoming Tomb Raider TV series, and with that news comes a first-look image of Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Lara Croft in the Prime Video adaptation.

We're sure you'll immediately notice that the show is sticking very closely to how the character appeared in the original PlayStation video games, right down to her glasses and the colour of her tank top. Fans often demand accuracy, and while that always risks comparisons to cosplay, there's no denying that Turner looks the part.

Whether the character's look will evolve over the course of the series remains to be seen. Most had expected a costume design more in line with what was used in the 2018 movie starring Alicia Vikander, but this is classic Tomb Raider through and through.

"I can't say much, but my preparation began in February [2025]. I've been training for a long time now, coming up on a year, and we're going to start shooting in January," Turner recently revealed. "I'm really excited, but I feel prepped, and I feel really lucky to have such a great relationship with Amazon."

"I'm excited for the world to see what we do with Lara and Tomb Raider," she added. "I think it's going to be something special."

Prime Video's Tomb Raider series is based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, which follows the adventures of world-famous archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft.

The project stars Turner as Lara Croft, alongside recently announced cast Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan,  Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.

Tomb Raider is led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), serving as creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer; they are joined by Jonathan Van Tulleken, who will serve as director and executive producer.

The series is executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Dallas Dickinson through Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel, and Legendary Television. Tomb Raider is co-executive produced by Matt McInnism, with Jan R. Martin as producer.

The internet runs on complaints, so regardless of the fact that she looks just like the character and has a real British accent (a first in live-action), children will dig deep for ridiculous minutiae to bitch about.

@Lisa89 - I mean you're partially correct. Yes the Internet loves to complain. For years for the most part it was petty bitching. But something happened nearly a decade ago. Studios started to change established characters for one sided political reasons.

Race swaps, gender swaps, sexuality changes, lectures, all at the cost of character development and good storytelling. They stopped making movies for the audience and started telling the audience they are hateful for not pretending to like their TED talks disguised as entertainment.

Whether or not you or I agreed with that direction one thing is for sure it happened. It wasn't in the imagination of incels or red pillers or women haters or racists. It happened. Hollywood became drunk on their messaging and the audience said "Ok, Imma head out. Nothing here for me"
I think or at least hope this year will be the year Hollywood gets back to pure entertainment.

They tried and it largely failed. That's fine at least they gave it a shot. Now we can move on. She looks great here. Let's hope the movie is entertaining as well.

@Lisa89 - if it wasnt for people who complained Namor will still have a crayon in his nose. Steve Rogers wouldnt be coming to get his shield back, She-Hulk would be leading the Avengers. Wolverine would be wearing a wifebeater still, and Lara Croft will have been played by Ice Spice you should all be happy

@Matchesz -

RE : >>> if it wasnt for people who complained Namor will still have a crayon in his nose. Steve Rogers wouldnt be coming to get his shield back,"

Steve Rogers is not,.... "coming to get his shield back"

The shield is with, and will STILL remain with Sam Wilson - who is Captain America, and will remain so for the duration of the two upcoming Avengers movies (....and probably beyond).

Steve Rogers is not coming back as Captain America nor to return to the role.
(He'll probably be Nomad or just 'Steve Rogers').
That's why the marketing in the teaser trailer was very explicit when it stated that 'Steve Rogers' (NOT Captain America) will return in Avengers Doomsday"

People like you need to get over fighting pointless battles like this.

Or alternatively, just keep whining and complaining about it because you're not getting your Wonderbread Blue-Eyed White Captain America, and are also apparently too stupid, (and choose to remain too stupid...) to realize or understand why studios do these types of cast changes.

I'd love it for Namor to still have a crayon in his noes" at some point in the coming movies - if for no other reason than knowing how much it will trigger people like you.

What a childishly pointlessly stupid thing to whine and bitch about.

@Matchesz - it's almost cute that you think online complaining changed ANY of those things. ALMOST. just delusional though. NO ONE from any film studio reads comments, especially here, and sees the complaints. no one cares.
DarkeyeZ
DarkeyeZ - 1/15/2026, 12:22 PM
@spr0cks - dude. he is an idiot that thinks complaining online makes a difference. he is deluded into thinking anyone outside of other complaining babies hear or care about his complaints. If the film industry, sites like this are known as cesspools filled with losers that never leave their Moms basement and complain non-stop, NO ONE takes this site or any other fan run site seriously. Sites that make up rumors and pass them off as news only get traffic by bored people and people with no lives.

Whine more about Captain America being a black guy.
And louder too.

I'm not sure Feige heard you the first time.

.....nor cares, if we're to be honest.

@DarkeyeZ -
You'd think they'd have gotten the message the first time when some of the first leads announced for Avengers Doomsday - and the ones who've been used heavily in marketing so far - are characters from Phase 5 that poeople like him have been whining and complaining about nonstop.
(like the Shuri's and the Sam Wilson's and the Namor's)

The message of course being that Feige and Marvel don't care what you think and are not writing these movies to cater to the edgelord, troll-ey neckbeard segment of the internet literati like this "genius".

@soberchimera -

Why would they fast-track a Captain America sequel barely a year removed from Brave New World's release and while they're in the midst of preparation and shooting of 2 Avengers movies?

It's almost like you aren't even trying ....to pretend like you're using that space between your ears for anything other than as a counterweight to your feet.
