A new variant cover for Avengers: Armageddon #5 has been revealed, featuring the heroes and villains of this December's Avengers: Doomsday.
While we don't know for sure whether this artwork is indicative of what we'll see in the movie, it's an epic piece of imagery that assembles the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes for a battle against Doctor Doom and his Sentinels.
Many of the Avengers and X-Men, and the entirety of the Fantastic Four, have come together to take on Doom. Among the highlights are a fight between Giant-Man and a Sentinel—that has to make it into the movie, right?—and Thor's brutal clash with the villain.
Steve Rogers is absent from this piece, but Chris Evans previously teased what fans can expect from Avengers: Doomsday when he said, "The Russos love beating up Steve Rogers. Their favourite thing to do is to just beat the crap out of him. To them, that’s what makes a hero, and that’s someone who gets punched so many times but still gets up."
"So they keep finding new ways to kick his butt," the actor continued, "but this one was brutal, and a really good examination of his nature and his values."
It's been rumoured that Steve will be the main source of Doom's frustrations, given that his presence on Earth-828 is what led to the Incursion-related experiments that killed Victor's family. That could explain why he's missing from what may be a first look at the movie's final battle.
