A Supposed Avengers: Secret Wars Plot Leak Has Just Hit - And It's Already Dividing Opinions

A new leak claims to reveal the entire Avengers: Secret Wars plot, and while there's no way to verify it at this early point, it certainly makes for an interesting—and potentially controversial—read.

Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to begin shooting any week now, but has the movie's plot already leaked online?

While it's easy to roll your eyes at any breakdown posted on Reddit (a platform rife with fan-fiction disguised as leaks), major movies like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Eternals, and Avengers: Doomsdayit seems—have been spoiled on the platform months in advance.

Those typically come from test screenings, and it's unusually early for the full Avengers: Secret Wars plot to have been revealed this soon. Still, on this quiet July 4 weekend, we thought we'd leave it up to you to decide.

At the very least, this makes for an entertaining read, claiming to finally shed light on what Battleworld looks like under Doctor Doom's control and the characters we can expect to take centre stage next December. The biggest shock, though it's one we suspected might happen, is that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as a Tony Stark Variant.

Something that's currently dividing opinions is the claim that the Multiverse still exists at the end of Avengers: Secret Wars, with Deadpool and the Fantastic Four sent back to their respective realities. That suggests Marvel's First Family won't exist in the same reality as Earth's Mightiest Heroes, though the mutant hints we've had in this Saga hopefully mean the rebooted X-Men will be part of Earth-616.

It seems the plan is to tie the ending to Avengers: Endgame, finally explaining why Steve Rogers was an old man when he passed his shield on to Sam Wilson.

The leaker later took to the comments to add, "Doom isn’t killed and returns to the Fantastic Four universe. And the major thing is that when Loki recreates the Multiverse at the end, he makes one change - Tony is alive again and back with his family on Earth-616."

A lot of this reads like fan-fiction, but at the same time, it's oddly believable. Much of it lines up with what scoopers have been saying, though that could be a coincidence.

You can read the full Avengers: Secret Wars plot "leak" in the Reddit post below. Once you've done that, head to the comments section to let us know your thoughts on its potential authenticity.

The confirmed (or, semi-confirmed, at least) cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Sadie Sink.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness's Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

Sounds very bad. Plus I doubt secret wars Even has a finished script yet so I don't think this is true in the slightest. Especially the FF not joining the main MCU. I get it that then the world they were in would remain as unique as it did but it's lame to just seperate only them. Like why get the FF if they won't interact with the larger MCU? Especially Spider-Man? Jackman and deadpool I could buy being seperate though.

Overall i call BS

@Mrcool210 - Yeah, I doubt the script is finished, too. I can see Secret Wars getting delayed.

I'm old enough to remember when the ONLY leaker they'd share on here was Umberto Gonzalez. The difference was HE WAS USUALLY RIGHT. Now that dude has a real job in the industry. Now you literally share ANY RUMOR you come across. You know how lazy that is? Anybody can do that. Anybody.

What a mess.

Also sounds fake, they're probably focusing way more in Phases 4 and 5 characters.

I like the idea that the multiverse isn’t destroyed and is still out there and that Tony returns, but why put the FF back into their own universe?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 7/4/2026, 10:10 AM
@Bucky74 - I like that everyone has their own universe back and even the old MCU being recreated, but there absolutely should be a new universe that includes all Marvel characters and that should be the one we focus on after Secret Wars.

Although I don't like how the old MCU gets recreated. Old cap makes no sense. You can't travel back in time to a different multiverse no matter what Al Ewing writes.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 7/4/2026, 10:14 AM
The old MCU should be recreated exactly as it was (or with a few modifications like Tony coming back to life and maybe Miles Morales or whatever the [frick]).

They can give it to Brad Winderbaum so he can continue to churn out Marvel slop on Disney+ set in this legacy universe.
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 7/4/2026, 10:48 AM
@ObserverIO - Right. I want Toby and Andrew’s Spidey’s “out there” in their own universe, but we need Steve back as Cap in the MCU proper with the X Men and FF all together.

Sounds decent if this is true. It is an MCUified version of Hickman's Secret Wars, which is what I wanted. don't know how this will fit in one movie though. And I'm not loving the casino Asgard. And we still don't know what the purpose of having RDJ playing Dr Doom is, which I'm still not a fan of.

He would've been better off playing a variant of Tony that becomes the Beyonder, that way his betrayal and his animosity towards Steve hits home more.

Kevin Feige already said they're headed towards a singular, integrated timeline after Secret Wars in this Vanity Fair article from last July...

"But Feige was also careful not to characterize the changes as a “reboot”; instead, the executive said “Secret Wars” will serve as a “reset” for the MCU.

“Reboot is a scary word,” he said. “Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines.” Later, he added, “‘X-Men’ is where that will happen next.”

@Jackraow21 - 100% will not be a multiverse after Secret Wars. The new single universe is the opportunity to cherry pick the best of the old timelines into the new, while changing everything else that didn't work.

@KetracelWhite74 - Yeah, I think I'll take Feige's own words over random anonymous poster on Reddit for sure.

The worst things about this plotleak are all the fundamental changes to Doom's story that were there in the Doomsday plotleaks. That and the memory thing which I really don't like at all. I don't like that these people have forgotten their true realities. Battleworld should be a real universe. It might have elements and actors taken from previous universes but they should all be real people with real pasts, not simply multiversal exiles that have been brainwashed. That sucks.
Everything else isn't too offensive.

That ending's worrying though. If they don't hard reboot it's all over. Period. This downward spiral will continue and cbms will wither and then soon afterwards die.
bobevanz
bobevanz - 7/4/2026, 11:02 AM
@ObserverIO - it's like that quote Tony gave to Peter in Spider-Man homecoming. It's literally what's happening. They aren't worthy anymore. The industry was fine before the MCU. It'll be fine after it
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 7/4/2026, 11:07 AM
@bobevanz - cbms were good before the MCU, they then became the dominant genre in cinema and basically kept cinemas alive for a while. Now though they are dying, mostly because the new generations don't have anything to grab onto. All the current cbm franchises (with the exception of The Batman) are inaccessible to new audiences. A good hard clean reboot would change that.
CBMSTAR
CBMSTAR - 7/4/2026, 11:12 AM
@ObserverIO - Actually, the worst thing about learning all this is information (true or false) being released months before the film hits. We live in the computer age where stuff comes out, and people automatically form their opinions about it. 50 years ago, you saw trailers in movies and TV and went to the theatre to see the movie. Now, everyone has in their head how a movie should be written and filmed. Akin to reading a comic book and imagining how the characters sound in real life. But that's the world we live in now.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 7/4/2026, 11:16 AM
@CBMSTAR - I think in terms of adaptations fans have always been this way to some degree, but yeah the age of internet leaks has given us the ability to start complaining a lot earlier than usual.
