The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night, with The Pitt dominating the drama categories and Widow's Bay emerging as a surprise force in comedy.
The Pitt was the night's biggest winner, taking home Outstanding Drama Series alongside awards for Noah Wyle and Allison Janney. Pluribus, meanwhile, also enjoyed a strong showing thanks to Rhea Seehorn, Vince Gilligan and Carlos-Manuel Vesga. Slow Horses, Task and The Diplomat were also among the dramas recognised.
Marvel fans, however, may have been left disappointed by one notable result. Wonder Man entered the ceremony with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, but ultimately failed to win. Instead, Matthew Rhys took home the award for Widow's Bay, robbing the recently cancelled Marvel Spotlight series' lead of a well-deserved Emmy win.
Sticking to comedy for a moment, Widow's Bay pulled off a major victory by taking home Outstanding Comedy Series, with Rhys also winning the Limited Series/TV Movie Lead Actor award.
Watchmen star Jean Smart continued her Emmy-winning run with another victory for Hacks, while The Traitors won Reality Competition Program and Alan Cumming took home the award for Host.
