While there's definitely a fair bit of excitement for Blue Beetle, 2023 has been such a rocky year for the DCEU, it seems the majority of fans aren't expecting much!

James Gunn has strongly hinted that even if this isn't the first official DCU movie, the title character will be part of DC Studios' rebooted franchise. That's a tad confusing with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still on the way, especially as it's thought to be Jason Momoa's final time playing Arthur Curry.

Regardless, we now have a big update about Blue Beetle because its runtime has been revealed.

At 127 minutes, it's among the DCEU's shortest movies and is longer than only Black Adam (125 minutes), Suicide Squad (125 minutes), Justice League (120 minutes) and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (109 minutes). We're used to many superhero blockbusters clocking in at upwards of 150 minutes these days, but this seems like more than enough time for Jaime Reyes' introduction.

Accompanying this news is a huge gallery of promo art for Blue Beetle, showcasing the title character in a number of different poses and scenarios. The costume looks great here, but the movie will need to be at least a moderate hit for Jaime to be a welcome addition to the DCU.

In Blue Beetle, recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.

When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle.

The movie stars Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damían Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Belissa Escobedo, Harvey Guillén, with Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez. Angel Manuel Soto directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

Blue Beetle arrives in theaters on August 18.
