COMICS: It's "Game On" For The Survivors Of AVENGERS ARENA

The Marvel NOW! April teasers continue, this time with an interesting promo for the second arc of Dennis Hopeless' Avengers Arena featuring Hazmat, Nico Minoru, X-23 and Darkhawk trapped in a board game box of death. Guess Darkhawk survived his little impaling then!..

Hopeless tells CBR..

"We want readers to care about all of these kids and understand how the experience is different, if equally gut wrenching, for each of them. The story structure borrows a lot from the TV show "Lost," especially in these first 2 arcs. You'll get glimpses of who the kids were back home while watching Murderworld slowly change them in the here and now."

pretty much. I gave up when it was called Avengers Academy. This would make a better mini-series than main book. I bet post Arena they will combine the two teams into the Academy Runaways. Also they better not have a twist where they are all alive but in a simulator.

Love the book, really well paced and excellent characters. I only wish I had read the lead ins to the series.

Darkhawks armor could get passed on to someone else. It's like the Guyver or Blue Beetles. Just because Darkhawk shows up later doesn't mean it's the same Darkhawk.

I like the book and the art is pretty damn good. Not sure why people are crying about the premise.

what kind of art is that? 60's pulp pin-up noir? lol, it's not bad but the only one who could ever really do that kind of art flawlessly was Jim Steranko during his late 60's/early 70's Nick Fury run. I'm not even saying that this artwork is trying to emulate his style, i'm just saying that TO ME i see an art style that's trying to channel Steranko's greatness.
