The all-new, all-disturbing Midnight Universe begins on October 7, and Marvel Comics has just unveiled new variant covers for all three debut issues: Midnight Spider-Man #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc, Midnight Fantastic Four #1 by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker, and Midnight X-Men #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte.

Bringing what Marvel Comics describes as "greater clarity and consistency to the variant cover collecting experience," the Midnight line will debut all-new ongoing variant cover programs.

Starting with issue #1, each Midnight series will feature recurring themes across Covers labeled A-E, along with additional variant covers. The covers revealed today include:

  • Midnight Spider-Man #1 Cover B by Ryan Stegman, a "Midnight Bloodbath Variant," blood-soaked covers showcasing the terror of the Midnight Universe.
  • Midnight Fantastic Four #1 Cover D by E.M. Gist, a "Midnight Horror Homage Variant," chilling recreations of iconic horror images.
  • Midnight Fantastic Four #1 Cover I by Rod Reis, an additional variant cover that will also be available as a virgin variant (Cover J).
  • Midnight X-Men #1 Cover H by Alessandro Cappuccio, an additional variant cover spotlighting the Midnight versions of Magneto, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver.
  • Midnight Fantastic Four #1 and Midnight X-Men #1 Covers E by Jeehyung Lee, prestige painted covers of the haunting Midnight Universe.

In Midnight X-Men, the shadows of New York City are stalked by vampires and the mutant empyres. The sword of Damocles hangs over the peace between these two species and the factions within them. An outright war is brewing, and the unturned will be caught in the crossfire.

Then, in Midnight Fantastic Four, an obsessive scientist delves into the secrets of the universe, perhaps best left unknown to mankind, leaving himself and three others warped in strange and horrifying ways. What horrible secrets lie in the new dimensions they have discovered? And can humanity survive the discovery?

Finally, in Midnight Spider-Man, a young Peter Parker is transformed into a hideous spider hybrid by the ruthless Oscorp Corporation in their pursuit of eternal life. When Oscorp begins to use the secrets unlocked by his mutation to create more human-animal hybrids, Peter embraces his grotesque new form to stop them.

Check out these newly revealed Midnight covers below and stay tuned for more on the line as we have it.

@BiffDitko - Pretty much, but I mean copying something that is good is not a bad thing as long as the execution is on the same level

@Urubrodi - 🎯
It took me a bit to catch on to "AB" but I'm really into it now. And AWW and Absolute Green Arrow.
This Midnight Spidey reminds me of the one where getting bit made him sick and everyone in contact with him got a horrible disease, like Spider-Cancer.
Tbh I'm pissed there is no more of the new Ultimate Spider-Man as that was really good.

@BiffDitko - it was so bizarre to reopen the Ultimate Universe for such a short period of time. I was enjoying Spider-Man(got all 24) and some of the others I picked up. Didn’t follow through with reading Ultimate Endgame(or whatever it was called).

We can't have actual, real heroes anymore. Everything has to be perverted.
