No, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn Didn't Force DC Comics To Resurrect Emilia Harcourt

James Gunn's wife, Jennifer Holland, plays Emilia Harcourt in the DCEU (and presumably the DCU as well), but it's now been made clear the filmmaker played no role in the character's comic book return...

Since first playing Emilia Harcourt in The Suicide Squad, Jennifer Holland has really made the character her own. We saw that in Peacemaker, while the actress also made a couple of memorable cameo appearances in Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Despite how impressive Harcourt's work has been, there are those who cry "nepotism" at her DCEU casting and some who believe Holland's husband, filmmaker James Gunn, is conspiring to replace Amanda Waller with her character in the new DCU.

Seriously.

Harcourt will soon make her return in the pages of DC Comics' Batman: The Brave and the Bold and, as you can see below, the DC Studios co-CEO has been forced to deny he had any involvement with that decision (something confirmed by the comic book's writer).

Gunn has also laughed off the suggestion he has some sort of Emilia Harcourt masterplan for the DCU, reminding fans that a Waller TV series is on the way long before Peacemaker season 2 - which is expected to co-star Holland - becomes a reality.

Now, there are fans who are disgruntled that many of the DCEU actors Gunn previously worked with are getting the chance to return. That's no doubt a result of Henry Cavill, Dwayne Johnson, and perhaps even Gal Gadot being ousted. In this instance, though, we don't think there's anything more to this than what we see here.

Check out Gunn's Tweets (and Threads) below.
