WONDER WOMAN #800 Will Introduce Diana Prince's Daughter - Check Out A First Look At Trinity Here!

DC Comics has revealed a first look at Wonder Woman #800, a special landmark issue which is going to introduce Diana Prince's daughter, Trinity, a character who will be key in this September's relaunch.

Comic book writer Tom King is working alongside DC Studios on its "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate, but that doesn't mean the Batman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow scribe is neglecting his comic book duties.

He'll return to an ongoing monthly series with this June's Wonder Woman #800, a landmark anniversary issue that sets the stage for September's Wonder Woman #1.

In that, we'll meet Trinity, the daughter of Diana Prince. She's going to be a key part of King and artist Daniel Sampere's new run on the title which is expected to see Amazons branded outlaws by the U.S. Government. According to King, the idea to introduce Trinity came from him seeing the success found by Damian Wayne/Robin and Jonathan Kent/Superman, the sons of Batman and Superman who have become the "Super Sons."

"When Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert introduced Damian, it went off like an atom bomb in the DC Universe," King tells IGN"It was about Batman having a son, yes, but it was more about this attitude Damian brought and how that played off of Batman and the Robins, how it immediately differentiated Damian as a character that was fun to read and write."

"So, part of this was saying it's not enough to just have a generic daughter of Wonder Woman; she has to be a character, she has to have weaknesses and strengths and a personality that can play off her brothers and her mother."

Discussing the new impact Jon has had on readers, King added: "[That] was a model for the impact we wanted for Trinity: someone who could reflect the greatness of Wonder Woman and still show a next possible step for the ideals embodied in that very impactful and very unique hero."

"Pete Tomasi and Patrick Gleason gave us endless gold with Super Sons. For Trinity we wanted someone who could play in that same sandbox, who could add to that chemistry."

While this introduction is sure to be divisive among comic book fans, the same could be said for Damian and Jon, two characters who have since become firm fan favourites. Who is Trinity's father? We're assuming that's a story for another day!

You can get a first look at Trinity, whose real name is Lizzie, in Wonder Woman #800 below.
