Why does he keep going through this exact same cycle of bad/good? It's not even moral ambiguity, it's: the arch-nemesis of the X-Men becomes an X-Man, flash-forward a few months later, then, surprise! He's fully evil, murdering people left and right. Then they build him to be sympathetic once more before turning him into an ally again. It's the same thing with Professor X walking again/getting crippled again.
