COMICS: SPIDER-MAN Joins CIVIL WAR II

Marvel confirms that Spider-Man (Peter Parker) will enter the conflict between Captain Marvel and Iron Man in Civil War II. What do you think are the odds that he and Miles Morales end up on opposite sides?

Marvel's Civil War II will pit two factions - led by Captain Marvel and Iron Man at odds over the fate of an Inhuman that can predict crimes before they happen.  Captain Marvel leads a group that wants to apprehend the criminals before they actually commit the crimes while Iron Man leads a group that's adamant that punishment can't occur before the crime is actually committed.  Iron Man's stance is definitely softer than his position in the original Civil War conflict with Captain America.  It also brings to mind Robert Downey Jr.'s line in The Avengers,  "If we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we'll avenge it." Are the Avengers doing the world a disservice by not taking preemptive action or should everyone - superheroes included, subscribe to the ideology of innocent until proven guilty?

Civil War II kicks off the story in Marvel's Free Comic Book Day offering which hits retailer shelves on May 7.  Civil War II #1 will go on sale in June.
