The comic book industry is in mourning today as it's been revealed that Len Wein has passed away at the age of 69. The legendary comic book writer and editor is perhaps best known for co-creating Wolverine and Swamp-Thing, with the former obviously one of Marvel's most popular characters. However, his work extended well beyond that and has been felt in a variety of mediums as a result.

For example, Constantin Kovar, who appeared on Arrow last season, was a character he dreamed up back when he was writing Teen Titans - his first professional comics work - alongside Marv Wolfman.

Wein served as Marvel's Editor-in-Chief for a time and had
runs on titles like The Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Fantastic Four. He and artist Dave Cockrum essentially rebooted the X-Men in 1975 when they came up with a brand new roster of heroes like Nightcrawler and Colossus (not to mention Wolverine who went from being an enemy of The Hulk to a member of the X-Men).

After making the move to DC Comics, he provided fun takes on characters like Batman, Green Lantern, and even played a role in introducing the modern iteration of the Suicide Squad. He'd later serve as E-i-C for Disney Comics and moved to television to work on a variety of comic book characters. Later, he did a huge amount of work for IDW and most recently returned to DC to pen Swamp-Thing.

His legacy is definitely going to be remembered and we obviously wish his family and friends all the best at this time. Feel free to let us know your favourite Len Wein stories in the comments section.
