They are not part of the mainstream canon.
They belong in the "What If" comic book
because they are a total nonsense alternate
reality and total johnny come lately's!

I still haven't seen a valid argument against the Ultimate Captain America costume. And to be clear "Ultimates suck" is not a valid argument.

I like, i'm invioning the Ultimate suit with that face and i have my beloved Cap

My valid argument is not personal opinion.
It's from logic and loyalty to characters
who've been portrayed the same for decades
and then just butchered in some "Ultimate"
departure from the facts of a very, very
looooong established character!

Captain America is one of the longest running
characters on the planet! He was not screwed
with until very recently with an alternate
universe called the Ultimates. They are not
"ULTIMATE" at all! Not unless you consider
they are an Ultimate screwing up of long
established characters that millions of people
have come to love passionately just the way
they are!

They are not canon at all! They are anti-canon
and counterproductive! Using the Ultimates
screw up the long established history of Marvel
characters ROYALLY! Nothing matches up!
I really don't understand why some people can't
see this!

If they screwed Indiana Jones up this bad
people would be up in arms! It's like taking
Indy's trail hat away and his whip and his
bomber jacket and a giving him a Viking helmet,
replacing his whip with a feather duster and
giving him a tu tu & feather boa to wear!

I enjoy the Ultimate titles, granted not the best but certainly not the worst. I don't understand why you think Ultimate titles are destroying the characters we grew up with, they give a chance to open up a new alternate reality and more modern realistic take on the characters for new readers. It's Marvel's way to grab more readers because face it, comic books only do so well.

So how does Ultimates destroy a long history of Marvel's characters (that is still going in other titles and not at all affiliated with Ultimate titles)? Their is no relation between them. They did bridge between the two realities in FF, but I doubt that screwed the whole idea of FF. I mean seriously Heroes Reborn was worse than Ultimate titles.

Now you can say the movies do incorporate both realities, which they do. And I'm ok with that. You can't use the whole "No way a African American was a general in WWII" bit because their were some, maybe not a lot but it makes Fury's story plausible http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/aframerwar/index.html

Ultimate titles are the true story...FOR ULTIMATE TITLES! It does not mess with the continuity at all with the titles we grew up reading.

DDD, you're totally exaggerating. Also, your arguments against the Ultimate Universe really have nothing to do with the Ultimate Captain America costume.

However, let's brake this down. Which gloves would look better in live action? Ultimate. Which boots would look better in live action? Ultimate. Which belt has more practical application? Ultimate. And if you were designing a costume for a super soldier (it's probably going to be made by people at SHIELD) which would seem more superfluous, wings that stick out of the head or stars on shoulders? Exactly. I'm not saying the ultimate costume is better overall. For the comics, classic Cap definitely wins. But the ultimate Cap costume is hands down the better version for a live action movie.
BTW, they did screw up Indianna Jones. It's called the Crystal Skull.
