The Batman: Arkham City Trailer #1

EXT. Darkness. Camera slowly zooms across the city skyline. The buildings are run-down and old. NEW SHOT. The camera looks down on the city ground. Explosions rise up and cover the shot.

Alfred:

You cannot quit now Sir. This is the time that Gotham needs you the most. You said last time was bad Master Wayne, you haven't seen nothing yet.

INTERCUT. A black quadbike with a circular rocket boost races forward. NEW SHOT. The camera is looking up on a helicopter flying across the same exploding city. Batman is hanging on to the bottom.

Bruce:

I can't handle it Alfred. I took time off last time, I nearly lost my sanity. He's too strong. Gotham is crumbling. I knew Arkham City was a bad idea.

NEW SHOT. The mayor is announcing Arkham City at a press conference.

Mayor:

I am proud to announce the construction of a mega-prison, Arkham City! Lower Gotham will be transformed into the city and it will house all inmates of Arkham Asylum, Blackgate Prison...

The voice get's quieter as he announces the prison list. NEW SHOT. A red motorbike flips forwards and slides across the road.

Alfred:

You have help this time around.

NEW SHOT. A woman in a black jumpsuit falls through the roof of a building and beats up two guards. She defeats the last one by sliding along the floor and knocking him over using her extended leg. She finishes in a cat-like pose. She has a cowl and wears goggles.

NEW SHOT. Blackjack kicks a door down and walks in with a gun outstretched in his hand. He is wearing a police uniform and members of the SWAT team are directly behind him wearing riot gear. He looks dramatically different.

Bruce:

There's not enough. In all honestly, in a battle consisting of a man who dresses up as a bat, a cat burglar, SWAT team, the GCPD-

NEW SHOTS. As Bruce lists the people helping him, shots of them appear. A shot of Batman riding the black quad bike, Catwoman using her whip to strangle some guards, the SWAT team running along a broken street with fire and broken cars surrounding them, and Gordon and Blackjack running down the steps of city hall, guns in hand.

-Versus a man with the strength of 30 bodybuilder, is 9" tall, walks around wearing khaki combat trousers and boots, along with his army of prisoners and soldiers, who do you think will win?

INTERCUT. A large Hulk-like man is shown jumping through a building, standing amongst the flaming wreckage of a building and a crashed plane, leading prisoners out of a stone prison, throwing a white van at the charging SWAT team and lastly, leaping 20" into the air off of a sandy beach, grabbing the bottom of a black helicopter and bringing it crashing down onto the stone prison behind.

Alfred:

It depends on your determination.

Bruce:

I have more determination than him.

Alfred:

I am always on your side Bruce, but he is sat in Arkham City right now, and he has Gotham in the palm of his hands. You are undoubtedly extremely determined, but I put forth this question to you, how determined must a man be to kill another man whilst he is in prison?

INTERCUT. We don't see Alfred+Bruce talking during their scenes. They're voiceovers to scenes mentioned earlier. Intercut during their last piece of dialogue is a dark screen and the Batlogo slowly appears on the screen. When Alfred finishes speaking, the background is white and mysterious chanting starts.

BANE BANE MATARLOS MATARLOS BANE BANE MATARLOS MATARLOS BANE BANE LE MATARIA MATARIA

This chanting continues as Bane starts to speak.

Bane:

Calm now my brothers, I prefer to let my victims live rather than kill them. Batman, killing you will only end your ordeal. Instead I shall.... BREAK YOU!

The Batlogo crumbles away, leading to an image of Bane walking forwards out of an explosion. He has a menacing look on his face and is shirtless. No scars are on his body. He is Bane. The fire covers the screen, and it turns black. Then, a white words slowly appear on the screen, forming:

THE BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

The Light is Coming. March 1 2012

I think for a trailer it has a bit too much dialogues, but still, very good in everything else. (Saying that, the dialogues are good too, and not that necessarily disturbing, only it can be lessened.)

Anyway, is this your version of The Dark Knight Rises of some sort? Because there are a lot of similarities (Bane, Catwoman, and the chantings in particular)...no biggie, though. (Sorry for not following this from day one, too.) Just wondering, but still a terrific job. :)

@Jolt17- Yeah, I tend to phycologically take aspects of what I've seen recently to do with the character that I'm creating a story from, so there will be a lot of similarities to the TDKR trailer :)

And no, this is the sequel to my previous Batman Fanfic (it was linked in the article) and Bane just happens to be the main villain and Catwoman happens to be helping Batman :) She's not the other villain though, Red Hood is the second villain :D

I actually don't think its in alfreds character to encourage bruce to put himself in danger as a vigilante. if anything alfred would tell him DON'T go. And bruce would reply gotham needs me the most now.

Alfred would give him some advice on how he shouldn't go after him followed by some advice on how to overcome impossibility.

No offense its very creative but I can't ever see alfred encouraging his life as batman, just aiding him for bruce' sake

@talesfcrimealley- Hmm, I didn't think of that. In my series, Alfred is encouraging towards Bruce as Batman although he is very protective of him. In the trilogy, Thomas Wayne was Batman first and when Bruce finds out Alfred says that he tried to keep the secret from him, and Bruce is compelled to carry on the legacy.

And trust me, if you knew what epic shit was going down in this story then you would understand why I wrote him like that. The reason for the determination part at the end is because Alfred is scared that Bane is more determined than Batman to do what he needs to do, which is destroy Batman. You can probably figure it out for yourself :)

Woooow now this dialogue is way to much for a trailer second of all the chant is deh-shay-deshay-bah-sah-rah and you took waaaaaay to much parts from The Dark Knight Rises and last of all your version of bane is way to unrealistic he's basically hulk he's 9 feet tall and he can jump 20 feet in the air from a flat surface otherwise your plot is Ok.

@00TheQuestion00- Thank you!
@chasenrises17- The chant ISN'T from TDKR. It's my own chant. It's Spanish for 'Bane Kill Them'. There's a reason Bane is basically Hulk but it's a plot device so I'm not revealing what it is. If you read the finished product then you'll see why he is basically superhuman.
