Common Renews Interest In John Stewart GREEN LANTERN Role

Though Common previously played Monster T. in Suicide Squad, it seems the rapper/actor is still up for playing John Stewart after previously signing up to play the former Marine in Justice League Mortal.

With the DCEU's Green Lantern Corps. film receiving a new round of mainstream attention thanks to January's hire of David Goyer & Justin Rhodes as screenwriters, Common was asked about playing John Stewart in the film, which was described as "Lethal Weapon in space."  If you recall, Common was previously set to play John Stewart in 2009's Justice League Mortal.  With that in mind and the fact that Common already had a role in the DCEU as Monster T. in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, has the Selma actor lost interest?

"No, I haven't spoken to DC. John Stewart, the character, is amazing. When I had the opportunity of potentially being John Stewart, when we were working, I learned how he was part of the Green Lantern Corps and all that he was doing. He was kind of community-driven so I felt like, 'Oh, man, I love this character.'  He used his mind to do a lot of things so I connected with him. I just love the character, but I don't know, I haven't talked to DC about it but, you know, hey! Yeah, I would love [to]. That would be an honor to play John Stewart."

Catch Common's turn as the primary antagonist opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2 when the film opens in theaters on February 10, 2017.
