Back in 2003 a private U.S. collector purchased the full Darth Vader outfit from 1980's Star Wars classic The Empire Strikes Back.

Thought to be the first complete Vader outfit to hit the auction block, it was put up for bid at Christie's last Thursday. Even though a spokesperson for the auction house had priced the costume at $340,000 the bidding war never quite ignited.

The famous costume remains in the possession of the auction house after bidding peaked at $236,000, a number that falls short of the confidential reserve price.

Hawksblueyes: How much would you be willing to spend on Darth Vader's costume if finances were not an issue? What do you consider a fair price?
