Spider-Man: Brand New Day was rumoured to introduce the MCU's Miles Morales. Instead, the spotlight was squarely on Peter Parker, and beyond a brief cameo, it's hard to imagine where Peter's fellow Spider-Man could factor into the movie.
In a bizarre twist, a recent auction for stunt plate prototypes has revealed what may be a first look at Miles' MCU suit. While it's possible this was custom-made for a stuntman during pre-production, it's so well-crafted, we can't help but wonder whether Marvel Studios had serious plans for the teenage wall-crawler.
While we'd advise against getting too excited, there's a very real chance that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was once set to introduce Miles. Plans change all the time, and an earlier version of Avengers: Doomsday—then titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty—was going to feature a full-blown Peter/Miles team-up.
Tom Holland has made no secret of his desire to pass the Spider-Man baton to a young actor playing Miles, and Avengers: Secret Wars ending with the Spider-Verse lead's live-action debut would be a perfect way to set up the next Spider-Man movie.
If this is Miles' suit, then Marvel Studios seemingly plans to stick closely to the comics. Close your eyes and imagine this suit alongside the one last worn by Holland, and we're sure you'll agree that their team-up would be amazing.
During Spider-Man: Brand New Day's press tour, Holland was asked what question he'd ask himself and replied, "I guess it would be, 'When will we get Miles Morales?' would be the question I would ask. Because I know the answer."
