Spider-Man: Brand New Day's time at the top of the box office will end this weekend, with Practical Magic 2 set to snatch the #1 spot from the web-slinger.
The sequel to 1998's Practical Magic exceeded expectations during Thursday previews, conjuring up a spell-binding $4.7 million at 3,200 locations. With millennial and Gen Z women showing up in full force, the movie is eyeing an opening weekend of $30 million to $35 million.
Where does that leave Spider-Man: Brand New Day? The Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures co-production isn't done making money yet, but its time in theaters is starting to wind down.
With a running cumulative total of $926.7 million, the MCU blockbuster is less than $10 million away from becoming the highest-grossing movie ever at the domestic box office, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens' long-standing $936.6 million record. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to achieve that this weekend.
It shouldn't be much longer before we get an official Digital and 4K Blu-ray release date announcement from Sony. As of now, we expect it to become available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 17, 2026. Judging by that date, the movie should arrive on Digital platforms between October 6 and October 20.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks set to finish its run as one of the highest-grossing movies in history. While Avengers: Doomsday will likely break many of Spidey's records this December, competition from Dune: Part Three should make it particularly challenging for it to top Brand New Day's U.S. haul.
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it's a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter that he may not have the power to control.
But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.
In our review, we concluded by saying, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day is everything fans could want. Emotional, hilarious, and heartfelt, it’s an action-packed love letter to the comics and one of Spidey’s best big-screen adventures. Spider-Man has never been more amazing."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
