David Harewood Talks 'Hank Henshaw'; Calls Melissa Benoist A "Fantastic" SUPERGIRL

While speaking to Digital Spy at last night's BAFTA Television Awards, Homeland alum David Harewood had a few words to say about TV's next superhero hit. After confirming that he's about to head out to LA to start shooting Supergirl's debut season, the British actor expressed his excitement about the CBS show, and called it a potential "surprise package" for television audiences.

He was quizzed about his character, Hank Henshaw, and how he planned on bringing the 'Cyborg Superman' from the page to the screen:

"People always ask me that question, and at the end of the day you've got to bring it to life, and you've got to bring it to life the best way you think is fit... I've taken a lot of hints and clues from what people have said about him, and done a lot of background reading and I've put that together... He's a pretty 'gruff' guy - I'm hoping he's entertaining, but also... frightening."

Harewood also revealed he was a big comic-book fan as a child, and was particularly fond of 2000AD's Bad Company series, for its diversity and dark storytelling. He also had plenty of good things to say about his co-star (and future onscreen nemesis), Melissa Benoist. "I think she's going to be a fantastic Supergirl", Harewood claimed. "I've got two little girls, and I think they're going to be tremendously excited when they see Supergirl flying and kicking serious butt."

What do you think of Harewood's comments? After the show's pick-up this week, are you excited about the thought of Supergirl flying onto your TV screens? As usual, let us know down below! You can also check out the full interview here:
