The Transformers writers room has just gotten a little bigger. Deadline are reporting that screenwriting duo Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari have joined up with Paramount Pictures to help bring to life an expanded universe for the multi-billion dollar franchise, including prequels, sequels and, of course, spin-off movies. While they aren't likely to be recognizable names yet, the pair did help re-write Ant-Man for Marvel, in the wake of Edgar Wright's departure.

Barrer & Ferrari join fellow MCU scribes Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man) in the Transformers writing room, alongside Jeff Pinker (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman and Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend). So far it is unclear which writer will be working on which film, but Deadline have claimed that Barrer & Ferrari expect to be working on a live-action feature. The site also believes that one of the titles in the works at Paramount is an origins story set on Cybertron, with the working title of Transformers One.

What do you think of this arrangement? Is this perhaps a sign that the new Ant-Man script will be something special - or could it be taken in the opposite manner? And how do you like the sound of a Transformers expanded universe? Leave your thoughts in the usual place!
