As Expected, THE FLASH's Season Finale Has Been Postponed By The CW Due To COVID-19 Concerns

The delays keep coming as The CW has finally confirmed that The Flash is set to go on hiatus without finishing its current sixth season. Find out what that means for the DC Comics series after the jump...

Variety has learned that The Flash will not be able to finish its current season as planned. Like Supernatural, The CW series was among the hundreds of big and small screen projects forced to halt production due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

Now, the season finale has been pushed to an undetermined date later in 2020, and there are only enough completed episodes left to keep the show on the air until May 19th. Then, it will go on hiatus, with the door left open for filming and post-production work to conclude the sixth season as planned.

That could be easier said than done, of course, and it leaves The CW in a very difficult position.

The hope will be that the finale can air later in the summer, but there's a chance The Flash's seventh season will have to be pushed back, and one unique way to deal with this would be to have the season six finale serve as the season seven premiere. It's an unprecedented situation, though, so networks like The CW will be forced to figure out what to do over the coming weeks and months.

Ultimately, it depends how long Hollywood is forced to remain on shutdown as this pandemic continues sweeping the globe. Cases in North America have risen drastically, so the last priority right now for studios is getting back to work on various movies and TV shows.

We'll keep you guys updated as we learn more!

Well this is quite the setback. If right now the final air date for Season 6 is May 19 I wonder if there will be more breaks. Perhaps there will because there was another piece of news saying, IIRC, that starting the first week of April which would be the 6th the CW will begin to re-air the Crisis crossover episodes and not resume with the new episodes. (And in general of the others like SG, Legends etc)

The Season could probably “end” around episode 19 or 20. 🤔

Hopefully what they choose for the cliffhanger in that date delivers and that eventually this pandemic starts to slow down. Everyone in the states please take care. 🙏

This is starting to remind me of the writer's strike back then that pretty much ruined a lot of shows during that time. Except its like 10x worse.
