Shortly after Daredevil: Born Again started filming, some photos from the New York set gave us a first glimpse of Severance and The Book of Mormon actress Nikki M. James taking a stroll alongside Charlie Cox.
The images seemed to suggest that James' character was a colleague of Murdock's, leading to speculation that she might be playing Kristen McDuffie, and insider @CanWeGetSomeToast now claims to have confirmed as much.
In the comics, McDuffie was the assistant DA who strongly suspected that Matt was actually the Man Without Fear. She frequently tried to get him to admit that he was really the costumed vigilante, and their friendly banter eventually evolved into a romantic relationship.
Whether things will play out this way in the Disney+ series obviously remains to be seen, but the trades did mention that James could be playing Murdock's love interest when her casting was first announced.
Vincent D'Onofrio and Jon Bernthal will also reprise their respective roles from the Netflix series, along with new cast members Michael Gandolfini and Sandrine Holt.
We recently learned that Holt will play The Kingpin's wife, Vanessa Fisk.
The show will be loosely based on the '80s Marvel Comics series of the same name by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli, but is not expected to be an overly faithful adaptation. Despite some significant changes to the story, "Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point."
Matt Corman and Chris Ord are on board as writers and executive producers. No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to bow in the spring of 2024.
