Avengers Endgame: Encore Has Already Broken A Mighty Record Before September Re-Release

Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters next month, and the Marvel Studios movie has already broken an impressive record that bodes well for its chances of dethroning Avatar at the global box office.

Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters next month, and it's increasingly likely that the movie's $2.799 billion global box office haul will rise enough to dethrone Avatar's $2.923 billion record. Will it become the first blockbuster to reach $3 billion? That remains to be seen.

Today, Deadline is reporting that the Avengers: Endgame Encore trailer scored a massive 77 million views in its first 24 hours, which is over four times the amount of any previous trailer for a re-release.

The critically acclaimed MCU movie has beaten Top Gun (19 million), Avatar (14 million), and Titanic (13 million), suggesting interest is extremely high ahead of Avengers: Doomsday's release this December.

The trade explains, "We heard the conversation around the social volume was spurred by eagerness for Doomsday footage, nostalgia for the theatrical experience of Avengers: Endgame in 2019 when the film first came out, fans’ personal connection to Endgame, and jokes about Endgame spoilers."

The big draw for many fans will be that exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday. An additional sneak peek at the film will also be available to audiences who see Avengers Endgame: Encore on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens. Marvel Studios will surely include a big reveal in those previews, and not just a slightly different cut of the trailers we've already seen.

Current rumours point to an extended clip featuring Loki removing Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter, and their child from the branched timeline seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame, safely moving them to Earth-828 and out of the TVA's purview. However, one good deed may be what leads to Doctor Doom becoming the Multiverse's greatest threat.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie features an epic ensemble which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

"Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie, it's an experience," we wrote in our 2019 review of the movie.

Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in theaters on September 25.
