Daredevil: Born Again star Deborah Ann Woll has revealed a very specific condition for reprising her role as Karen Page outside of the Disney+ series.
The actress has been playing Karen since Daredevil launched on Netflix in 2015. She later reprised the role in The Punisher and The Defenders, but wasn't expected to appear in the MCU until Daredevil: Born Again's creative overhaul returned her to Matt Murdock's life.
Woll had a small role in The Punisher: One Last Kill, but when it comes to exploring other corners of the MCU, the True Blood alum isn't so sure.
Appearing at Rose City Comic, Woll was asked if she'd be down to appear in a Spider-Man movie, for example, or whether "street-level heroics" are a bigger draw. She responded, "It depends on the content and the context. I really love the street-level superhero stuff. That's what excites me about the superhero stuff we do."
"And actually, even when our show gets a little magical and starts taking steps in that direction, I kind of am like, 'I prefer it over here.'"
Woll went on to specify that, if a leap to the big screen does happen, then she would want Karen to be written "in a legitimate way that felt fun to fit the movie, but also true to who she was in the space, then, hey, yeah, absolutely."
Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock appeared in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker's lawyer, while Jon Bernthal had a full-blown supporting role in this summer's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Daredevil star Rosario Dawson was also supposed to show up in the latter for a cameo as Claire Temple, but was left on the cutting room floor.
Addressing that last month, the Ahsoka star said, "I tell you my post was already ready with my BTS, with my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff cause he loves Spider-Man. Then I got the email, so yeah, I'm a reject of Spider-Man, and I'm a reject of the Devil's Rejects."
Woll will return as Karen in next year's Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. If scooper Daniel Richtman is to be believed, the next batch of episodes is being described as "the best one yet."
With Elektra back, there's a strong likelihood that we'll see The Hand in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, especially after their return to the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With Daredevil, Elektra, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Bullseye all in play, things are about to get very interesting in this corner of the MCU.
As of now, Daredevil: Born Again still hasn't been renewed for Season 4. There is, however, a chance that we'll get some news about that during Marvel Television's planned panel at New York Comic-Con.
