About over a year ago the gaming news website, Kotaku, broke the story of Assassin's Creed: Victory now known to be Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. The site reported on important details about the game with leaked images from their source, which all turned out to be true. Just recently, Kotaku revealed some amazing news for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise and about Ubisoft's upcoming game.

According to their sources, Kotaku reports that the next Assassin's Creed game is set in ancient Egypt with the game's code name being "Empire". They also go on to say that due to Assassin's Creed: Unity's poor performance, the release date for Empire was delayed until 2017 to make sure that the next game would be a great one. Fans of the franchise have been clamoring for any news of an Assassin's Creed game to be set in ancient Egypt, World War II, and even fully in modern day ever since the franchise took off. Looks like Ubisoft is finally listening to their fans. What do you think? Are you excited to take on the role of an assassin in ancient Egypt?

UPDATE: Ubisoft has released an official statement regarding the rumors of the next Assassin's Creed game.

"We can’t comment on rumor or speculation. We’re always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin’s Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!"

Interesting.

As someone who LOVES the ship Captain aspect in recent last-gen AC games, I would love it if AC: Empire features next-gen sailing. Maybe in the Mediterranean or Nile??
However, idk if there was much pirating in those areas or depending on the time period, if pirating/pirate ships even existed.

@Mercwitham0uth - "Just end this franchise already."

Nah, probably not! hahaha.

I can't speak for the next-gen games, since I haven't gotten around to purchasing a PS4 yet, but AC:3, Black Flag and Rogue were pretty great! I thoroughly enjoyed them. And there's more than enough reason to continue the franchise, but from what I've read about AC:Unity, it might if they reevaluate why/what it is fans love/enjoy about AC games.
As I've said before, I'd rather they devote more time on writing good/better stories and fine-tuning all aspects of the game, than attempt to release an AC game every year. It's the same problem & reason, EA Sports games aren't worth buying annually, they sacrifice quality in favor of meeting their annual release. So, the final/released product is hit-or-miss and guaranteed to have issues/glitches needing fixes/patches with future updates anyway, just wait and release a quality/complete game!

I get all the hate for this franchise, but I will never get tired of seeing all these iconic landmarks, time periods, and seeing all the historical characters along the way. Yeah it's repetitive and all games are similar, but this is still a blast to play every time.

I hope they don't white wash the game. It should be filled with many Africans and Middle Eastern characters. I wonder how they will go about showing the many slaves the Egyptians had. Plus I really want it to be set when Egypt was the most powerful nation in the world and not when Alexander the Great controlled it. Which I personally think it will be set it. Alexander was a great leader, but during that time Egypt became a desert and wasn't the beautiful oasis city it was.

So they're jumping back now?

Okay.

Really wanted a Old West style AC, I don't care if they would rip off Red Dead to do it but I want it bad.

CONFIRMED. I really don't understand the big deal about keeping this a secret though. It's not like knowing the location would spoil the game. Though it does suggest the oft-mentioned Ankh will feature in this one.

Per the Kotaku article, Ubisoft registering the domain assassinscreedcollection.com is intriguing.

It would a great idea if they release AC games with next-gen graphics, new features. And maybe make a few changes/tweaks to the older titles to improve their quality & be more polished/complete games. It'd give folks even more reason to want to re-play the old AC games, not just because of their "new paint jobs" (new/better graphics.)

Assassins creed is bullshit, the reason unity sucked is because they keep pumping that crap out year after year. The last good AC was Black Flag.

My only question is this: WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE AN ASSASSIN'S CREED GAME SET ON FEUDAL JAPAN!!!!! Ninjas and samurais are basically assassins, IT'S THE PERFECT BACKDROP FOR AN ASSASSIN STEALTH GAME!

@TheLeftovers

No shit, ever game is the same. That's the way games are. Halo, CoD, Battlefield, GTA, Resident Evil, ACreed.....Sports games. How is any game series not all exactly the same as the one before it?

Congrats, you basically just said. "All apples are apples."
