Conceptual artist Ryan Meinerding has just shared on his facebook account some cool images of concept art he worked on for Marvel Studios. The images below depict an early Mandarin design, Captain America wearing a version of the WWII costume, Iron Man's Mark 43 & unused Mark 45 armor, Tony Stark testing his repulsor boots, and War Machine.

WHY IS THE UNUSED CONCEPT ART ALWAYS SLIGHTLY COOLER AND/OR BETTER THAN THE FINISHED PRODUCT??

The armor looks amazing. The room he's in too. He looks badass sitting on that chair. Love everything about it. Missed opportunity and I wouldn't mind the REAL MANDARIN looking like this. Maybe Trevor copied him beat for beat and knew what he looked like somehow. Hope that armor is incorporated into the real mandarin. I just love this look for the mandarin and hope it's still used for the real guy. Too badass to abandon.

That Mandarin concept art though....

I liked Iron Man 3, but what the hell was Marvel Studios thinking when they gave Shane Black that much power? They can give him free reign on Iron Man 3 but they can't do the same for Edgar Wright?! That's BS to the highest caliber!

The fact that there are so many dormant villains in the MCU just adds to its potential and longevity. Marvel can bring back Red Skull, Graviton, Mr. Hyde, the Leader, the Mandarin, Blizzard and the Abomination at any given moment and they wouldn't need to spend that much time explaining the origin.
