Entertainment Weekly has revealed some new info on 'Batgirl: A Matter of Family', an upcoming story expansion for Batman: Arkham Knight starring Barbara Gordon in her superhero days pre-Arkham Asylum. WB Games Montreal (who developed 2013's Batman: Arkham Origins) are taking the reigns of this DLC, set in a brand new area of Gotham called the Seagate Amusement Park, a nautical theme park where Barbara must rescue her father, Commissioner James Gordon, from the clutches of the Joker and Harley Quinn. "We wanted to recreate the feeling of being trapped in a bizarre and unique open environment playing a game of cat and mouse with the Joker," explains design producer Justin Vazquez.

The expansion will put a strong emphasis on Barbara's technological skills, with Batgirl utilising hacking mechanics as well as that all-too-familiar Arkham combat. "Hacking is really what separates her from the other characters. It's a gameplay mechanic with which the player can create situations for Batgirl to really shine," Vazquez tells the site. "Our intention was that Batgirl should be less powerful than Batman, but that Batgirl plus hacking could give her opportunities do things that not even Batman can pull off."

'A Matter of Family' will also make use of Arkham Knight's Dual Play mechanic, with Batgirl teaming up with Robin to take down the Joker and Harley; Vasquez also reveals that the fan-favourite villainess will sport her iconic red and black costume from Batman: The Animated Series. "Seeing these four iconic characters together at the same time will be a real thrill." Expect a number of side quests, easter eggs and collectibles in the expansion as well. 'Batgirl: A Matter of Family' is released on July 14 for Season Pass owners, and launches seperately on July 21 for $6.99 (USD). Are you planning on purchasing the add-on?

Other than origins we've never really seen Dick Grayson's Robin. Maybe it's Jason as Robin. I'm hoping that maybe they do another DLC like this showing more of Red Hood or Jason Todd becoming Red Hood or Jason Todd as Robin.

It's really a fantastic world they've created with these games. Like an extension of Batman: TAS but more mature. All this sounds awesome and I can't wait to play it.

I hope it's better than the red hood or Harley Quinn DLC. Those were lame!

Interested in it and Im hoping it is coming to PC the same time as the consoles, given the issues with the PC version of Arkham Knight.

Also, Steam are saying that the sales for Arkham Knight will resume in the Fall...hope that ain't true.

Sound like this will be a dlc more along the lines of Harley Quinn revenge and Cold Cold Heart, vs the 10 minute Harley Quinn and Red Hood dlcs we got so far.

WB montreal did a really decent job with Origins. Story was good. Full of glitches...but it was ok.
