DEADPOOL Director Tim Miller Elaborates On Why He's Not Directing The Sequel And His TERMINATOR Future
Tim Miller departed Deadpool 2 over reported creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds and the filmmaker talks more about that here as well as why he's excited to turn his attention to Terminator.
We were all shocked when Tim Miller exited the Deadpool sequel last October, especially as the first movie was such a massive hit both critically and commercially. At the time, it was reported that creative differences between Miller and Ryan Reynolds were the cause of this and the filmmaker has now shed some more light on what happened during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"I felt like there was more stories to tell there, but I’m happy that somebody else is telling them," Miller said of his departure from the highly anticipated follow-up. "There was a sense of relief in that I get to do something new versus Deadpool 2. I think it would’ve been a great movie, but it was also going to be a continuation of what we had done. This really gave me a chance to do something new."
At the time, Reynolds made some digs at Miller in regards to what sounded like a lack of imagination on the director's part but it makes sense he won't say much about that due to how Hollywood works!
As for what's next for Miller, he's setting his sights on the Terminator franchise and a team-up with director James Cameron. "I feel like there was so much more to be done with these characters. I mean, I wanted to make Deadpool 2. I was going to do that, until I wasn't. So, there was that, which took up about seven months of my time. But even then, David [Ellison, who has the rights to the Terminator franchise] and I were talking, like after Deadpool 2, it was going to be this [Terminator]."
