Adult Swim announced this morning that My Adventures with Superman will return for its third season on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET/PT, as part of the Toonami anime/action block, episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max the following day.

It has been nearly two years since the critically acclaimed series aired its second season, which concluded with Superman and Supergirl teaming up to defeat Brainiac and destroying Kandor once and for all. Supergirl subsequently returned to the Kent farm with her cousin to join his team, setting the stage for many more Kryptonian adventures.

Like the prior two seasons, season three is expected to consist of ten episodes. While specific plot details remain under lock and key, it appears the third season will see Superman face off against Hank Henshaw, who has seemingly transitioned into Cyborg Superman. This suggests the series aims to adapt the "Reign of the Supermen" story arc.

Showrunner Jake Wyatt teased the direction of the new season: "What would we do with that premise now? It's less Death [of Superman] and more about, 'What's a Superman?' The fun thing about Reign of the Supermen is that it's all these impostors who have the same power set but different values."

Consequently, the show will introduce a number of new characters, including Superboy, who has been confirmed for this season. Wyatt told Entertainment Weekly: "Superboy can't just push Clark's buttons, so Superboy's been adjusted to be more relevant to all of our characters... he is going to embody the tension between hope in the present and fear in the future. He was the writers' and the artists' favorite character for the season, and we're going to complicate him a bit over the course of it."

Steel will also return, though he will have a lighter presence this season; Wyatt promised something heavier is planned for him if the show is renewed for a fourth season. Additionally, a third alternate Superman is set to appear, though his identity remains a secret for now.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception to the series, a spinoff titled My Adventures with Green Lantern is currently in development. It will follow Jessica Cruz, a teenager chosen to join the Green Lantern Corps who must face the consequences of an ancient war between the Corps and its enemies.

The new season of Superman will feature a brief cameo from Cruz before she headlines her own series. However, it may be a while before the spinoff premieres, as it is still in pre-production and has not been officially picked up yet. Animation for the first episode is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

The Boys star Jack Quaid headlines the voice cast as Clark Kent/Superman, with a supporting cast featuring Alice Lee as Lois Lane, Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen, and Kiana Madeira as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

My Adventures with Superman returns for season three on Saturday, June 13!

@bobevanz - it is really good in a quirky way. I trailed off in early season 2 but I definitely want to get back into it.

I was a fan of the show when it first came out seeing how it started with the plot of DBZ. But it’s grown on me and while the Superman movie seems to be the same overall story arc, I enjoyed the cartoon series way more than the live action movie.
Plus I like Jack Quaid’s delivery of dialogue better than fake Cavill, I mean David Cornswet.

Never even heard of this, but it does look good enough to go back and watch!

@jlabatman - It's definitely enjoyable. Probably doesn't break top five DC animated shows, but that's a high bar.

This show is very fun. They somehow found a way to make Clark feel like his classic self but also a twenty year old Gen Z kid at the same time. The romantic tension between Clark and Lois is extremely well done. And it may be my favorite adaptation of Brainiac in anything.

The description of the Green Lantern spin-off show doesn't sound promising at all, but they've earned enough cred for me to reserve judgement and give it a chance.

The Reign of the Supermen animated movie from a few years ago was pretty good. Interested to see how this compares.

Is that Coast City in the background of the poster?
