Following that cliffhanger, episode three picks up in Frank Castle’s bunker, where Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) are at odds after Karen reveals she has kidnapped an AVTF officer. She argues that this is how they end it, insisting this officer is different from the others.

They ungag the officer, Alan Saunders (Jeremy Holm). He claims he was actually looking for them—not to kill them, but to join the resistance. He wants to help in any way possible. Daredevil senses he is telling the truth. He tells Alan he’s going to replace the hood and knock him out, after which Karen will drop him somewhere safe. He instructs Alan to tell the other officers that Daredevil beat him up so he can maintain his cover. He also warns Alan that if he’s lying, he will hunt him down. Daredevil then knocks him out and… cue the credits!

Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva) is still struggling after her encounter with Muse last season. She is plagued by visions of him, and we see that she has kept Muse’s mask.

Kirsten McDuffie (Nikki M. James) later runs into Heather outside the courthouse. Kirsten is frustrated because the trial for "Swordsman" Jack Duquesne (Tony Dalton) has been moved up two weeks; she also knows that Heather failed to give Jack an honest psych evaluation. Heather remains convinced that Frank or Daredevil killed Matt. Kirsten assures her that while Matt is difficult to trust, she still believes in him and knows he is in trouble. Heather, however, appears to be a lost cause. She has bought into the rhetoric of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and truly believes he is making the city safer. Kirsten warns her that Fisk is not the answer.

Cole North (Jeremy Isaiah Earl) is reinstated as an AVTF officer. He blindfolds Kirsten and transports her to visit Jack before the trial. Once they reach Fisk’s secret prison, Kirsten tries her best to determine their location, but has no luck. Cole gives her fifteen minutes to speak with her client.

Jack tells Kirsten that Fisk initially approached him about investing in the Red Hook port project, but when he refused, Fisk had him locked up. Both are uncertain how the trial will play out, especially with the odds stacked against them.

Matt tells Karen that she is starting to remind him of Frank. They wonder where Frank might be and why he hasn’t resurfaced yet. Given that he has helped them in the past, his sudden disappearance strikes them as odd. (While he won’t appear this season, he’ll be back soon in The Punisher: One Last Kill and Spider-Man: Brand New Day).

Karen desperately wants Frank’s help, arguing that his methods are effective. Matt counters that killing is not the answer and that murdering Fisk won’t bring Foggy back. He acknowledges the odds are against them but insists they still have a system to follow.

Elsewhere, Governor Marge McCaffrey (Lili Taylor) obtains a copy of the Port of Red Hook charter and pays Fisk a visit. She is stern, accusing him of avoiding state oversight and revealing that she knows about Red Hook. She warns him that he is not immune to the law and informs him she has the charter. As Governor, she tells him she has the power to revoke Red Hook’s freeport status. It doesn't look like Fisk likes hearing that.

Matt and Karen discuss what might be hidden inside Red Hook. Matt hopes to torch the weapons and expose Fisk for who he is, while Karen expresses worry for his safety.

Back in Fisk’s office, the Governor explains she has only turned a blind eye to his activities because his campaign against vigilantes has been successful and popular with voters. However, she adds that a tanker capsizing in the harbor with suspicious cargo is something she cannot ignore.

Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan) stops by the office of Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini). Daniel convinces Buck to eat a hot dog before asking what he knows about Governor McCaffrey. Blake describes her as "boring" with no incriminating secrets. He then asks Buck for interrogation tips and lets it slip that he knows about Buck’s past. Buck questions him regarding the investigation into the Fake Kingpin videos, demanding that whoever is behind the mask be turned over to him immediately.

A new Fake Kingpin video is released, focusing on the upcoming Swordsman trial.

At the courthouse, the trial of Jack Duquesne begins before a panel of three judges. Heather’s evaluation is introduced, which severely damages Jack's defense. Matt and Karen watch the coverage from their hideout, unhappy with the proceedings. Jack testifies, recounting how Fisk demanded a large donation for Red Hook and how his refusal led to his current predicament. Kirsten does her best to defend him and requests more time, but the judges deny her due to the high public interest in the verdict.

Justice Waters (Michael Gaston) ultimately declares Jack guilty. Jack knew it was inevitable; the entire trial was a farce. In his office, the Kingpin celebrates the outcome.

At a dinner event, Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) struggles with the knowledge that Bullseye is hunting her. She connects with Heather, and they discuss Buck Cashman. It appears Vanessa is playing matchmaker, as Buck drops by and charms Heather. The Governor makes a toast, seemingly testing Fisk’s reactions. Simultaneously, Blake works the room trying to find leverage on the Governor, but discovers she is squeaky clean.

At the freeport, the AVTF supervises a weapons transfer. Officer Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley) refuses to let the workers leave even after the ship is loaded, forcing them to continue working.

Kirsten McDuffie is seen having a drink, clearly upset by the trial's outcome. Someone sends her a drink with a covert message telling her to return to her office immediately. When she arrives at Murdock & McDuffie, she is greeted by Daredevil.

Daredevil asks for her help. She states she doesn't want to join the Resistance, but Daredevil tells her she is already in it. He asks for details about what she heard or sensed during her visit to Jack. Though she couldn't see anything, Matt tells her he can work with the sensory information she provides.

Daredevil breaks into Red Hook, using Kirsten’s descriptions to navigate. He reaches a secure door and uses Alan’s keycard to gain entry. He enters the fray quickly, taking out two guards. He hears the ticking of the wristwatch he hid inside one of the containers and locates the weapons—as well as a group of detainees locked nearby. Faced with a choice, he decides to save the hostages.

As more guards flood the room, Daredevil fights them off while protecting the prisoners. Jack Duquesne joins the fray, and the two team up to fight back. Daredevil breaks a pipe to create a steam screen, providing cover for their escape.

Powell approaches with reinforcements. Karen, waiting in the van, tries to warn Daredevil but cannot reach him. Suddenly, a guard is taken out near the van. Angela del Toro (Camila Rodriguez) has arrived! She has taken the White Tiger amulet and is using her powers for good. She neutralizes the guards and steals their comms. Karen uses the radio to reach Daredevil, who hears her through a fallen guard’s walkie-talkie. Daredevil leads the hostages outside, but they quickly find themselves cornered.

A massive AVTF cargo vehicle bursts through the chaos toward Daredevil. It stops, revealing Karen behind the wheel. The hostages pile into the back while Angela sneaks around slashing the tires of the AVTF pursuit vehicles. They successfully escape.

Daredevil apologizes to Karen for failing to secure the guns, explaining he couldn't leave the prisoners behind. She reassures him that he did the right thing.

Kingpin receives an update from Powell and is pleased to hear the weapons are safe. He then issues a cold order, and the Northern Star ship explodes. All the dock workers who assisted with the weapons transfer are killed—leaving no witnesses.

Daredevil and Karen watch in shock as the Northern Star sinks into the harbor.

Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.
