DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 WILL Connect To SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY; [SPOILER] Confirmed To Return

Marvel Television's Brad Winderbaum has revealed that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again will connect to Spider-Man: Brand New Day in some capacity...

Marvel Comics fans have been waiting to see Daredevil and Spider-Man team-up/face-off (we did see Peter Parker and Matt Murdock share the screen in No Way Home, but that's not exactly the same) for many years, and while Tom Holland's wall-crawler swinging on to the small screen remains highly unlikely, we now have confirmation that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again will connect to Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Though he didn't share many details, Marvel's Brand Winderbaum revealed that he has been in contact with the Brand New Day team to ensure that there is "coherence" between both projects during an interview with EW.

"We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important. We're in a shared universe together, but I would say just the Daredevil comic books, the Punisher comic books depicted a certain tone and an idea of New York in a different way than Spider-Man's, but they both exist in the same universe. It's similar. Everything lines up and the impacts are felt, but we're able to tell different stories."

So, can we at least expect a Spidey mention in Born Again season 2? Maybe a subplot that will be expanded upon in Brand New Day? Remember, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle will have a significant role in both projects, so this connectivity may not involve Peter Parker, specifically.

Elden Henson recently claimed that he would not be back for season 2 (Foggy Nelson was pretty definitively killed off in the S1 premiere, after all), but Winderbaum has now confirmed that he will appear in some capacity.

"I actually haven't seen the quote," he said when asked about the actor's denial. "But I can tell you he is in season 2. People don't know what they're allowed to say and what they're not allowed to say, also. Do I play it coy? Do I be honest? It's always a dance."

Though there's a chance this confirms fan theories that Foggy is actually alive, we'd say the character is more likely to return for flashbacks.

What do you make of Winderbaum's comments? Be sure to let us know in the usual place.

In Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

The show also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer and Jon Bernthal. Dario Scardapane is on board as showrunner.

Episodes are directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd; and executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Dario Scardapane, Christopher Ord & Matthew Corman, and Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead.

Like how Sam Raimi coherently followed the character development in Wandavision to Multiverse of Madness. Oh wait, no he didn’t.

@Makiveli21 - in his defense. Both the movie and show were being written at the same time. MOM writer got information last minute and the same with WV writers. They had to connect to one another but time was against them.

@Makiveli21 - He did though. Wanda was afflicted by the Darkhold and wanted her children. Her fingers were black like Agatha and heard the Multiverse. Her home in Wanda ision was a mirror image of the 838 universe.

@Makiveli21 - WandaVision ended with Wanda diving head first into the Darkhold. Then in MOM, it corrupted her. Where's the lack of continuity there?

I'd love a moonlight cameo at least once in the episode.

An interrogation scene with Matt and a group of webbed up henchmen hanging upside down would also be cool.

It'd be so easy to make the total of the MCU feel alive, booming with a 🌎 of superhumans. Yet, time and time again, we get semi-humourous banter from people with little to no existence in the known realms of MARVEL.

Get rid of these nuggets of [frick]ery and bring back the people!!!

@KennKathleen - Like in the X-Men 97 finale where we got little Marvel cameos. I’d much rather have that happen in the movies versus a cameo just to insert some quippy jokes.

@KennKathleen - Kamala's father was in Season 1 and name dropped Ms. Marvel.

@mountainman - Yes!

Long story short:
The writers MUST get it together. I would love to get exicted about a trailer again.

New⚡️Avengers was nice as a story (although I wish we would've called them a different group- the comic crew were A+), but they don't give me "Can't wait til they return" vibes.

Use things that worked in the past. MARVEL has got to stop green lighting diluted versions of old stories.

Brand New Day will make or break the comic cohesive-ness deeply lacking in these last phases.

@KennKathleen - I thought Thunderbolts was the best MCU movie this year. If they were smarter with their releases, they could have planned a true A list tentpole for the May window, shot Thundebolts with a smaller budget since we all knew it wouldn’t make that much, and it would have been a great B tier release for them.

You take a vague comment and say it's officially "confirmed?" Didnt Jeff Loeb say back in the day that the Netflix and AOS was all connected but Kevin Feige ignored everything the TV side did? This isnt really saying anything. Yes they both take place in New York but it doesnt mean storylines will crossover. With that being said isnt Punisher being in BND connection enough?

@krayzeman - When they say "crossover", it will probably be like a quick shot of a newspaper article or someone saying one line about Spiderman. This is why the whole Disney+ Marvel universe failed, as they were clearly two separate worlds. Now look at Gen V/The Boys by contrast, where they have the actual actors appearing in each show.

@Kadara - well wasn't yelena in Hawkeye? Kamala father in daredevil? Daredevil in she hulk? Rhodey in secret invasion? Punisher in daredevil?

As much as I like Elden as Foggy , I think it’s indeed more likely that he’s back for flashbacks rather then alive in present day (and frankly I think it’s how it should be given how important that was in S1).

In regards to the connection between BND & BA S2 , I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the fallout from the latter in the former since likely Matt would have defeated Fisk and ended his reign over NY so I could see the ramifications of that reverberate into Spidey since that could likely create a power vacuum.

@TheVisionary25 - yeah, it's probably just that. Part of me hoped we get a sort of finale to Kingpin's reign in a Spider-Man movie though. Hopefully in Spider-Man 5.

@bkmeijer1 - but that would you mean you have to watch Born Again to watch Spider Man…

Wouldn’t that be homework which people complain about?.

Hopefully Kingpin is still the big bad in BND. The man at the top.
